The best area to stay in Prag is the Old Town (Altstadt), which is the historic and central part of the city. The Old Town is a compact, pedestrian-friendly area. It's characterised by its cobblestone streets, mediaeval architecture, and the central Marienplatz square, home to the New Town Hall with its famous Glockenspiel. Many of Prag's most iconic sights, such as the Frauenkirche and the Viktualienmarkt, are located here or within easy walking distance.Couples often find the Old Town ideal. Its narrow streets and historic buildings create a romantic backdrop, and there are numerous high-quality restaurants and traditional Bavarian pubs to enjoy. Staying here means you're perfectly placed for evening strolls and experiencing the city's unique charm without needing public transport. For those looking for a slightly quieter yet still central experience, the area just south of the Old Town, around Sendlinger Tor, is an excellent choice. It's still very walkable to the main attractions but offers a bit more tranquillity in the evenings.

The best time to go to Prag is during the late spring (May to early June) or early autumn (September to early October) to enjoy pleasant weather and fewer crowds.During these shoulder seasons, the weather is typically mild and sunny, making it ideal for exploring the city's sights on foot. You'll find that the main attractions, like the Prag Castle and the Old Town Square, are less congested than in the peak summer months. This allows for a more relaxed and enjoyable experience without the intense heat or larger tourist groups. For those who enjoy a festive atmosphere, visiting in late November and December offers the charm of the Christmas markets. While it will be colder, the city is beautifully decorated, and the markets provide a unique cultural experience with local crafts and traditional food and drink.
