The backyard deck overlooking the water is the most beautiful place to be. The location and freeway access made this an easy base for us to explore the area.
We had a great long weekend in Maine. The house is very close to downtown Portland and convenient to the highway for day trips outside the area. Evenings in the backyard are the perfect way to finish your day while enjoying the breezes and water views.
Great location just outside city. Quick ride to downtown by car or Uber. House was very clean and neat. Stairs upstairs maybe a challenge if you don’t pay attention, as well as upstairs bathroom for a male. Other than that the house was great and would recommend!
Mark was an amazing host and offered a quick 15 min call prior to our stay to share some details about the house, and his favorite restaurant recs.
The view of the water from the deck is amazing. The house was cozy yet spacious and felt like home. I loved his personal style.
We were visiting family in Cousins most of the stay but I hope to book for a week (or longer!) next time to fully appreciate the house, deck and everything Portland has to offer. Thanks again, Mark!!
The location of this property was ideal - we were on the water with wonderful views yet only a few minutes away from all the Portland hot spots. (Very quick, easy drive into Portland with no issue finding convenient public parking). The house was just right for us (4 adults) with all amenities you would expect plus the bonus of a great chill place to relax in a quiet neighborhood. Loved having the pool table too! And our host, Mark, was fantastic. Talked to him before we arrived and he provided great list of things to do, places to eat, and general tips. He made his home very welcoming and it was a pleasure staying there. Definitely on our list to visit again!! Rave reviews for both the host and the property.
Location- Location-Location!This home is perfect for two couples. It’s small, yes. But positively charming! The host knew we were arriving very late in the evening due to flight issues. He had coffee, creamer, pastries, orange juice, strawberries, cheese and prosecco in the fridge. After a long day of travel, it was lovely to wake up and enjoy the lovely ocean view while sipping our morning coffee. We have never experienced that level of hospitality thoughtfulness with a home rental before. This home is so conveniently located. You are away from the bustle of the city center on a quiet, safe street with perfect ocean views, all while being a quick, affordable Uber or Lyft away from the action. We found that using Uber or Lyft was more economical (and convenient) than paying for parking. Stop looking and book this home- you’ll love it!
MOLD in guest room. Host was willing to change the AC unit but would not acknowledge that mold spreads through the air and isn’t safe. Then tried to gaslight me about being too cautious. Very disappointing.
The house has many oddities. Stairs jut into the living room, door handles barely attached, loose bannister, ceilings only accommodate those shorter than 5’ 10”. You will hit your head going up the stairs, using the bathroom and waking up. Bed in master is very uncomfortable. Can’t speak to guest room because we avoided it due to mold. This is not a well-curated rental. View it as a place to sleep close enough to Portland proper with a water view.
View out back yard and kitchen full of pots are positives. But learn from our mistake. You’ve been warned.
the house was great, charming and cozy, the pool table was an instant hit! my grown kids loved it. great location close to old port and falmouth/yarmouth.
Home has a beautiful water view and backyard space with deck. Nice neighborhood location with many places to walk/ run. Small deli, ice cream shop (summer), tai and diner nearby.
We were in Portland for a family celebration but we also wanted to be close to the Old Port. This house has beautiful water views and is a 5 minute drive to the Portland waterfront. The house is very clean and well maintained - the perfect size for two adult couples. The owner was also excellent in terms of communicating with us and trying to help us make the most out of our trip. The only thing I will point out is that with quaintness of an older New England home it also comes with some low ceilings, so watch your head. That said even at 6’-2” I’d gladly stay here again for everything it has to offer.
We were delighted with the location. It was so easy to get to all the places and things we wanted to do from this home. Very nice safe neighborhood. Wonderful walking paths . There is a waterview deck with patio furniture which I enjoyed in the early mornings watching the tide. Great view of the river. This is a sweet older home with some low ceilings . Beds are comfortable, and the owner has stocked and supplied the house well. He responds for any needs. The weather during our stay was surprisingly hot but the house has air conditioners .
We arrived late at night. Mark had explained very well how to get in. He had left coffee and cream as well as a bottle of champagne as welcome gift. We certainly enjoyed our time in his home and looking forward to next year.

Wonderful Experience In Portland
My wife and I recently stayed with our two young children and our dog and had a great experience. The property itself is located in a quiet residential area yet minutes from numerous outdoor areas to explore (Mackworth Island, Eastern promenade, etc) as well as all that downtown has to offer. The house is well maintained and stocked with all of the essentials. Mark is an incredibly thoughtful host and I would recommend his home to anyone traveling to the area. We look forward to visiting again in the future!
My husband and I recently stayed at Marks place. The home has historic coastal charm and is in a quiet, quaint neighborhood tucked right off a main road - both quiet and easily accessible!
The yard and view were beautiful - the ideal getaway spot overlooking the Presumscot River and out to Casco Bay. We spent the majority of our visit on the porch and hanging out in the yard with our dog, but the inside was lovely as well.
Check in was easy - we had a chance to meet the owner, which was great! He so kindly left a bottle of sparkling wine in the fridge and fresh coffee grounds with a french press and kettle!
If you’re visiting Portland, but like a little more breathing room than an apartment, this location is fantastic. Access to the highway was about 2 minutes, and about 7 to the center of downtown, although there are a few more or less walkable restaurants. Getting a BLVL almond croissant was a mere 10 minute round trip, and enjoying it while watching the tide come in - the best! Wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
In the evening, sitting on the deck, we watched the water turn pink with the sunset. The next night a bald eagle perched for twenty minutes on a piece of driftwood in the neighbors yard - 50 feet away. We cooked nice meals, learned to play pool, walked two minutes to the local deli, walked two minutes the other directions to Martin's point, walked a half mile to Beals Old Fashioned Ice Cream, a Noodle Bar, Thai Cuisine and the back bay. Super relaxing - we could have just stayed home all day but we didn't. Turn North off Oregon Street and travel through Falmouth, Yarmouth , Freeport, Brunswick - hug the coast for a wonderful drive up HW 88, then S Freeport Road - stop, cut in to to every port, explore. Find Town Landing Market - pick up lunch, take it to Broad Cove Reserve and eat on the beach, take a hike at Wolfe's Neck Oceanfront Camping - end up in Brunswick. I could go on and on, It's the perfect location for all this ... and on the water!

Perfect Introduction to Maine!
Our stay at Mark's home was awesome! We traveled up to Portland - had never been there before - and Mark greeted us the first night we arrived and told us about the many things to do in the area. He was also available to contact that week if we needed any more help/ideas!
At the house, we were within walking distance to a few places to eat (which were delicious) and within easy driving/Uber distance (5 minutes) to downtown Portland with the grocery stores, restaurants, breweries, and even the Urban Farms Fementory. We also took our dogs across the bridge around the corner and did the picturesque 1.25 mile walk around Mackworth Island. Dog-friendly sandy and rocky beaches were also easy to get to around the different areas surrounding Portland.
Watching the sunrise and sunset from the porch was a perfect way to start and end the day, and we had a ton of fun one of the days just hanging out at the house playing pool, Cribbage, and dominoes. We couldn't have found a better place to stay on our visit! Thank you so much for everything!!
Brought my two kids (ages 14 & 12) to stay for a 3 day visit. I’m originally from the area and I have quite a bit of family still living locally. This was the perfect trip for us. The property was an epic slice of Coastal Maine! From the beautiful water views to the cozy cottage experience this home was superb. Our Host, Mark, was so accommodating, warm & friendly. It’s really special when the host makes you feel like family and is genuinely happy to see & hear about us having a wonderful time. My kids & I will always cherish the memories we made here. This is what we all needed and gave us a chance to bond. Thank you Mark for your hospitality and for sharing your home with us!
We had a wonderful quick stay at this charming little cottage with beautiful location on the water. We enjoyed our morning coffee and evening wine with our daughter and loved the tremendous evening sunsets! Mark was wonderful to work with and made our welcome special with breakfast, water, and prosecco! Definitely a great time!
