Breakas Beach Resort - Adults only

"If you are looking for something different to a standard hotel/resort and adults only, then this is the place for you. The rooms were clean and simple beach huts without wifi or tv - we were on the beach so the view was amazing. Wifi is available in the resort public areas so you could still get your internet/phone fix when needed. The facilities were also simple but well managed and even with only 1 restaurant the food was amazing and quite varied with specials available every day. Happy Hour with buy 1 get 1 free cocktails was another drawcard and the perfect way to get to know your fellow patrons. All in all we loved the quiet simplicity of this resort and will definitly be back."

"This review is about lack of communication, poor management - poor customer service. This is in no way a reflection on the beautiful Vanuatu staff at all. We unfortunately were on the island during the fire event which was an emergency event and we were moved to another hotel for 2 nights and then back to Iririki. The issue was there was no communication that a fire had occurred. No communication about what was happening - we were told to stand in a line and wait to find out where we going. We still hadn’t been told there was a fire or we were being evacuated. We were then made to pay our room tab prior to being booked into emergency accommodation. Only once our account was settled was a hotel organised. Most phone calls/emails/whatsapp messages went unanswered. No info given about returning. On return power went out again. On and off over next couple of days. Compensation was essentially refused in terms of refund of price difference from room type booked v room supplied - time wasted - cancelled arrangements/plans -lied to face to face by management. We did get offered dinner and a massage as comp but on check out this was on bill. then had to wait to speak to the manager who was on a day off to get approved again. So out of 6 days- 2 days wasted - 1.5 days of a 3 day car hire wasted - hours spent arguing with managers. Spent the best part of 4 days in tears. Great way to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday and retirement celebration."

"Let’s start with the not so good Nobody on reception when we arrived at 2:45pm, took 40 minutes to check in when he should have taken 5 minutes No microwave as advertised in Expedia Shower head needed cleaning, tap sink nearby falling off, waste must be blocked as water took ages to clear Kitchen sink not cleaned very well View say Lagoon View, not from unit 25 only a small view of the lagoon, bring chainsaw if you want more of a view. Pool has a number of missing tiles and the woodwork on the dividing wall is falling apart Maintenance doesn’t appear to be top of the list at mangoes However ignore all the above and it was a pleasant stay Breakfast was good Staff were all wonderful Rooms are ok and it’s nice and quiet all expect the rooster down the road It’s a good walk into town, it was better to walk through hospital and not take on the very steep hill to follow staffs directions to town Shops are close by if you walk through the hospital grounds Buses come past all day and cheap enough to get into town Pools in the resort looked nice and clean, but also have missing tiles Aircon was cold, fans worked ok, but do need changing as speeds vary Fridge is a nice size to get your Tusker beer in!! Overall it was an okay stay, certainly a max 3 stars no where near 4 star accommodation. I would stay again but would not pay for a room with a private pool as the resort was very quiet and we could of had 4 private pools all to ourselves."

The Moso Vanuatu

"For those who's priority is relaxation and refreshing the mind & spirit, this is the place for you. The Moso has 15 villas, so there's typically no more than 30 guests. Many guests stick to their villas since several have their own pools. Yes, you can take trips, the staff will arrange boat transfers to Efate, a 10 minute ride away, or to Major Tom, the sailboat that moors about 15 minutes away. The walk to Embas beach on the other side of the island takes 30-40 minutes, but well worth the incline over the hill and back down. The reef there is even more amazing than the one out front of the resort. I had a massage booked for later that day, so I asked the staff to pick us up on the quad for the trip back, which they did. Friday and Saturday nights from 5:30pm you can walk 10-15 minutes to the nearest side of the village to Jerry's Kava Bar. Chat with the locals, look at the moon, stars and water from the porch. Take a few bucks in cash for the Kava and Tuskers (beer). The locals are some of the most delightful people I've met. Downsides: If you need to be active all the time, this is not the place for you. It's quiet, tranquil, remote, and sometimes they're out of a dish from the menu due to limited supplies. We couldn't get our pool light to work (put that on the bulb replacement list) and the in-room safe needed new AA batteries. Big deal, right? It's fabulous. We loved it."
