Daintree Living at its best!

Posted 02-Sep-2016
Pros: Everything!
Cons: Nothing, great place!
Location: 20 minutes to Port Douglas, drive yourself 20minutes to Bruce Belchers Croc tours, Barramundi fishing nearby, swimming in the river - fantastic.
You might pay a premium to stay here but let me tell you - its worth it! Immediately greeted with welcome cocktail by Neil the amazing hotel manager. A riverside resort, literally on-top of the Mossman River in the famous gorge! You wont need to pay other tour operators for tours either as you have access to 4 hours worth of jungle walking on private property. You can also swim in private billabongs on the river! Great clear freshwater swimming! The food is 5 star, the service is 5 star, the rooms are 5 star - we loved our stay. We were treated to an upgrade which was amazing (thank you!). If you are going to stay i suggest the riverfront tree houses as they have the sound of running water and are much more light. I would definitely return without hesitation. Also, if you are doing a crocodile tour - i suggest Bruce Belcher's tours - small family operator but by far the most successful as shown by our full boat and at least 8 crocodile sightings in 1 hour. Many other tour operators on the river skipped straight past what our driver could spot.

Wonderful rainforest getaway

Posted 15-Jul-2016
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities were well appointed and easy to use. The food at the restaurant was delicious.
Location: Fantastic location, easy access to great walking trails and beaches. We used the push bikes to ride to Mossman Gorge which was easy and enjoyable.
We had four lovely nights at Silky Oaks. The lodge provided excellent facilities and service. It was a perfect, relaxing getaway in a private setting. Perfect for couples wanting to escape crowds.

Cons: Breakfast was great. Dinner was average.
Location: The walks were lovely, a reasonable challenge but not too challenging.
Tremendous! Very very good for the soul. I would recommend it to everyone.

Quiet part of the Daintree National Park

Posted 03-Jul-2016
Pros: Being upgraded on arrival ... the attention to service detail .. friendly smiles from front and back of house staff
Location: loved the short walks in the Mossman Gorge, the short trips to Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation, Mt Molloy, and a day trip to Cairns comfortably
We had a quick friendly and welcoming check in. A relaxing spot on the edge of the rainforest. The bush trails from the lodge were relatively easy to walk. We were unexpectedly offered a complimentary lunch due to the paint fumes from the renovations in the tree house next door.

Stunning location, lots to do!

Posted 02-Jun-2016 on Wotif
Pros: The dining area was in the most beautiful location. We enjoying sitting there enjoying our meals
Cons: My partner was upset by the musty smell of the bed. We understand this is part of the joy of the tropics though!
Location: swimming, hiking, bike riding, relaxing! Close to Mossman George and Cape Tribulation.
Stunning location, lots to do and lots of beautiful spots to do nothing. We needed more time to just sit and enjoy the absolutely stunning surrounds.

A little slice of heaven

Posted 22-May-2016 on Hotels
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay as we have in a number of other Luxury Lodges of Australia. The serenity and privacy of your treehouse, overlooking the Mossman Gorge and rainforest, ensured a wonderfully relaxing three days. The food, wine and extremely attentive staff meant that we also thoroughly savoured our meals in a restaurant setting beyond spectacular.
