"The sleepover at Hotel Jozef was a nice short stay with some "surprises". The hotel has no reception in the afternoon, despite being written that you can arrive from 14h! I had luck to call them in advance by phone. We should get a key code by email. However, I did not obtain any! If you would like to stay there, consider contacting them personally after the booking. Breakfast is only from 7 to 9. That is the only time I saw any personnel in the hotel. The room is well equipped, very clean and...

Top Podnanos Hotel Reviews

Albergo Alla Posta

Albergo Alla Posta

10/10 Excellent
"This is a really lovely hotel. Full of character and history, but well refurbished. Extremely friendly and helpful staff, all of them. Our room, which was clean and comfortable, overlooked the inner courtyard and when we requested one with better light they saw to it quickly and efficiently. The first room had a walk-in shower, the second a bath (with jacuzzi) and hand-held shower, but the pay-off was two French windows and balcony. The breakfast buffet is astonishing: juice, fresh rolls, croissants, pastries, crispbreads, toast available, a good selection of cold meats and cheeses, boiled eggs, great selection of cereals and muesli, lovely fruit including fresh, dried and stewed (plus prunes - my favourite!), freshly made cakes each day, the list goes on, too much to list here. Wonderful coffee. The location was perfect for our needs: a 5 - 10 minute walk from the station and also from the old centre in the other direction. The beautiful Opicina Tram stops just outside. The wonderful Caffe San Marco is a stone's throw away. I can't fault any of it - highly recommended."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Podnanos?
The best area to stay in Podnanos is within the village centre itself, particularly near the main road, as this provides the most convenient access to local amenities and the surrounding region.

The village centre is quite compact, with the main road, which is often referred to as Podnanos Road, running through it. Here you'll find the local church, a small shop, and a few traditional guesthouses. It's a quiet, friendly area that serves as a good base for exploring the Vipava Valley.

Couples looking for a peaceful retreat will find the village centre ideal. It offers a chance to experience authentic Slovenian village life, with opportunities for gentle walks in the surrounding vineyards and hills. The local guesthouses often provide excellent regional cuisine and a friendly setting.

For those interested in outdoor activities like hiking or cycling, staying in the village centre provides easy access to the numerous trails that crisscross the Vipava Valley.
When is the best time to go to Podnanos?
The best time to visit Podnanos is during the late spring (May to June) and early autumn (September to October) when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities and the vineyards are at their most picturesque.

During late spring, the landscape is lush and green, and the temperatures are comfortably warm, typically ranging from 15°C to 25°C. This period is ideal for exploring the Vipava Valley's walking and cycling trails, as well as visiting local wineries. The grapevines are in full leaf, offering beautiful scenic views. This time of year is great for couples looking for a romantic getaway with opportunities for gentle hikes and wine tasting.

Early autumn also offers excellent conditions, with mild temperatures between 10°C and 20°C and often less rainfall than in summer. This is harvest season, so you'll find local festivals celebrating the grape harvest, and the vineyards are particularly stunning with their changing colours. Food and wine enthusiasts will appreciate the chance to experience local traditions and taste fresh produce.
