honestly, the pictures on the listing don’t do this property justice! it was beautiful and sooo cozy! i loved being able to spend time with the animals and using the stereo to listen to the various cds and mixes available. there’s so many adorable small animal details and decor in the yurt—it all feels very intentional and well put together. you really can tell that everyone working there loves the animals and the animals are SO well cared for, which i love. the wood burning stove was soo nice and the bunk beds were so comfy and nostalgic. i had such a fun, refreshing, and fulfilling time here. i will definitely be back and be recommending this stay to my friends and family! 3

Staying at the yurt is peaceful and divine communing with nature and the most serene beings. Highly recommend for travelers seeking tranquility without the desire for hotel and resort style amenities. There’s a lot to learn from the residents who have been liberated from confinement and abuse and are simply enjoying life.

My family and I had such a wonderful time staying at the Piedmont Farm Animal Refuge yurt! We had visited the refuge before, but being able to stay overnight and experience the sanctuary on our own was really special. The yurt was cozy, comfortable, and completely charming! The nearby amenities, including the restroom and kitchenette, were clean and easily accessible. During our stay, we enjoyed walking around the refuge and giving snacks to the goats, sheep, and cows, many of whom were very interactive. We also signed up for general volunteering and had an amazing time learning more about how the refuge operates while helping with daily tasks. It gave us an even greater appreciation for the work being done to care for these incredible animals. This was such a unique and meaningful experience, and we would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway while supporting a wonderful cause!

When I arrived at the destination, I looked on my emails and there were instructions to check out, but not to check in. Maybe I missed that. But, I called the number, and I did get a nice person who was able to help me. There was no one at the sight. When I got to the correct entrance, there was a gate that was locked, It was very awkward to work the lock. It was at night, so I had to use my phone flashlight. The Yurt was fine, Somehow I missed the fact that the bathroom and shower was in a house a little distant from the yurt, and there were several sets of stairs, up a level, to a grassy area, and then two more levels before I got in the house. I am 78, and have a bad foot. I should have checked more carefully. I was warned that the water from the spigot had a sulpher taste. There was a supply of clean water there. However, In the morning I never figured out how to make coffee. There was a kurig coffee maker in the kitchen, but I was not able to work it. I did get a low price for the stay, but I was disapointed!
