The best feature is the great taxi driver who works for the hotel. Although it was a VERY expensive service. Firstly all of the staff there are amazingly helpful and friendly, they even provided us with packed breakfast to go after knowing that we will miss breakfast due to our tours - which is unheard of - other hotels would just simply say "there's nothing we could do". Next up, the food in the hotel restaurant is simply out of the world, 5+ stars. Room is great and I love the open bathroom. Breathtaking views and scenery. Quiet surroundings and lovely small villages with friendly locals. IT WAS BIT AWAY FROM THE MAIN CITY CENTER AND AWAY FROM CHAOS SO WE LIKED IT MORE HOWEVER IT COULD BE BIT TRICKY TO FIND IT ON THE FIRST DAY. THE ROOM WAS VERY GOOD. WE GOT GINGER ROOM (ONLY HAVE 6 ROOMS). RESTAURANT AND FOOD WAS GOOD. THE RECEPTION STAFF AND THE MANAGER WERE REALLY FRIENDLY AND NICE. ONE STAFF MEMBER IN THE RESTAURANT WAS BIT RUDE TO US WHENEVER WE INQUIRED/ASKED WITH HIM. MUST WATCH IS KATHAKKALI! CITY CENTER HAS MANY GOOD RESTAURANTS. Det kan være behagelig å sovne til, men også litt mye i lengden, så ørepropper hadde vært fint. Det er veldig luftfuktig (naturlig nok) så det er vanskelig å få tørre klær når de først er våte. Et tørkeskap eller lignende hadde vært bra å ha. Ellers er servicen ekstremt bra. The pool was fantastic, the spa had great staff and the massages were extremely relaxing. The chef made excellent food and the whole staff, including Ashok and Indu and others, were really accommodating and helpful. The staff is a great asset to the property - everyone is friendly and provided help with anything that came up. Great to be in the middle of the rainforest and hear to cacophony of bird song everywhere. Attention to detail was very evident and the Manager Himadri was first class. We enjoyed a two hour walk up a nearby mountain accompanied by a delightful staff member Ragu and enjoyed a 360 panoramic view over the bordering National Park. And the other standout was the kitchen with excellent fare and worked on an a la carte principle. So very pleased not to see yet another buffet! However road Leading up to the hotel was tortuous, the last part was closed for repair making access by car impossible, this kept us fit a d we saw lots of wildlife a d interesting culture. The disappointment was the staffs lack of knowledge an inability to help with park safaris or other activities. Poor WiFi was another disadvantage. Staff extremely polite and helpful, the cottage are lovely and very spacious. They made sure we were comfortable. This property is a bit off route, surrounded from 3 sides by periyar tiger reserve. The cottages are tastefully done and food was just awesome. The staff attitude and helpfulness is one of the best I have ever experienced in all my travels - they were tuned into observing and attending to every request and need without being intrusive or loud. The menu is an interesting mix of Continental, North Indian and Kerala cuisine with emphasis on Kerala cuisine, naturally.
