Perugia

"It's a large hotel, with nice but standard rooms, full bath. It's fully committed to its chocolate theme, which makes it a little kitschy, but has an amazingly large breakfast with both sweet and savory items. It's located outside the center, so a bit of walk uphill to the center, or you could take public transport (bus or Mini-metro). The hotel has free, easy and ample parking, so it could be a great base for exploring nearby towns."

Hotel Monastero Sant'Andrea

10/10 Excellent

"Clean room, beautiful place"

Hotel Sant'Ercolano

10/10 Excellent

"Very nice staff at this convenient and basic hotel. Very clean and comfortable. It's about 3 minutes walk from the minimetro stop very near the main piazzas. The staff were very welcoming, allowed us to drop off luggage early and gave us caffé on arrival, then we returned later to check in. We opted to have the breakfast at the hotel, which was fine and convenient since we needed to check out early and catch a train. For the price and the staff and an authentic experience in beautiful Perugia, it's a top choice. If you want luxury, it's maybe not the place for you. We'll return when we next stay in Perugia!"

Il Palazzo

10/10 Excellent

"After a grueling walk up from the central bus stop we arrived at the hotel (take a taxi from the train station, you’ll thank me!) Getting around the hotel was a bit like Theseus going through the labyrinth but luckily no Minotaur at the end, instead a quiet and comfortable room. The breakfast was quite good with plentiful choices. Location was excellent, an easy walk to visit both St. Francis and St. Claire. We’ll be back!"

Frequently asked questions

When is the best time to go to Pila?

The best time to visit Pila, Umbria, Italy, depends on your preferences for weather and activities, with late spring (May to early June) and early autumn (September to October) generally being the most pleasant.

Late spring offers warm, sunny days superb for exploring the Umbrian countryside without the intense heat of summer. The landscape is lush and green, and wildflowers are in bloom, making it ideal for walking, cycling, and enjoying outdoor excursions. You'll find fewer crowds compared to the peak summer months.

Early autumn is another excellent choice, with comfortable temperatures and clear skies. This period is particularly appealing for those interested in local food and wine, as it coincides with harvest season. You might be able to participate in grape harvesting or olive picking, and many local festivals celebrate the region's produce. The changing leaf colours also add to the scenic beauty.

While summer (July and August) brings the warmest weather, it can be quite hot, and Pila sees more tourists during this time.
