It's a stunning setting, beautiful rolling hills, wonderful grounds with ancient tree ferns and a lovely walk down through the woods to the fore shore.
The interior of the hotel is nice in the reception area and lounges/ terrace. The upstairs is very tired with dirty and stained carpets and felt like a different hotel. All the room doors are were badly painted with cheap looking handles and door numbers, however inside the room was great, very spacious and had a huge bed and another very comfortable sofa bed in an adjoining room for our son. All very clean, nice bedding and lovely fluffy towels and robes.
We only used the pool area once, great outdoor jacuzzi with a stunning view across the golf course. The sauna was spacious and clean. The pool itself could have been lovely but wasn't well kept and looked quite murky and I kept getting hair caught on my fingers whilst swimming which is my pet hate!
Overall I'd say it's a nice hotel with friendly staff, but they need to spend money renovating the whole hotel to get away with charging such high rates.

Just returned from a three night stay, everything was as great as it could be, helpful friendly people, nothing was too much trouble.
Our only criticism is their sister hotel could do with some staff training, service was as good as being at fawlty towers.
However idle rocks was perfect !!
