The Praça da Liberdade itself is a central square, often bustling with activity, and it's within easy walking distance of the Pedra Alta Cathedral and the old city walls.Couples often find the historic centre ideal for a romantic getaway. The evenings are pleasant for strolls, with many restaurants offering outdoor seating. The best time to go to Pedra Alta is during the shoulder seasons of May-June and September-October, when the weather is pleasant and crowds are smaller.During these months, you'll experience warm, sunny days superb for exploring the coastal paths and enjoying the beaches without the intense heat and larger crowds of July and August. The sea is also warm enough for swimming and water sports. You'll find it easier to book popular restaurants and activities, and accommodation prices can be more favourable. For couples seeking a romantic getaway, these periods offer a more relaxed experience. You can enjoy leisurely strolls along the coastline, dine alfresco, and visit local vineyards without feeling rushed. The softer light of the shoulder seasons also makes for beautiful photography.Families travelling with younger children might also find these months ideal. The milder temperatures are more comfortable for little ones, and the beaches are less crowded, making it easier to keep an eye on everyone and find a good spot for building sandcastles.
