Things didn’t start well when I arrived by motorcycle and was shoo-ed off from Hotel parking by a quite pushy hotel receptionist. We smoothed it over but it was a bad start On seeing the room, at first I thought I’d found the bargain of the century but alas there were some drawbacks. The first was no air conditioning which in the current heatwave was a little uncomfortable. The second, and perhaps worse, was smelly bathroom plumbing which was quite off-putting. Positives: Location is excellent, hotel is very affordable, breakfast good value at 12euro. And the (different) receptionist on checkout was lovely! So a bit of a mixed bag. I’d probably try a different hotel if staying in Pau again but the price was Very Good.

We spent two lovely days in Pau and were delighted to be guests in the Hotel Le Roncevaux for that time. It is an older hotel but is nicely upgraded with all modern conveniences. And the location in Pau is perfect for the visitor. The staff was friendly, courteous and made the extra effort to ensure our satisfaction. I recommend the hotel without any hesitation!

Amazing hotel in the heart of Pau. Very nice and quiet. The staff very kind and helpful. You have nice restaurants and cafes close by. You can do shopping as well at walkable distance. Will definitely stay again.

Staff are very friendly and lovely. They have great parking - book in advance. Great location for central Pau. The hotel is very tired and you don’t need to look too hard in the corners to see dirt and grime.

Room was very clean and staff ever helpful. The room across the hall was much nicer. Larger, sunny, and had a bathtub. I would have asked for it if I knew. Breakfast is a bargain.

Not bad three-star-hotel

Close to the train station. They charge a "resort" fee which is ridiculous because it is nowhere near being a resort. Old building, so lots of dangerous edges to drop off if you are a senior. The personnel were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was good.

Hotel was dated and desperately needs updating. Carpet in room was stained & dirty. Shower fitting was broken. Bed was comfortable. Room needed a good clean & maintenance. The hotel didn't deserve a 3 star rating.

The hotel had an unloved feel. The shower drain was almost completely blocked and the shower controls needed servicing. The linens were fine and the bed comfortable. The location was excellent but parking extremely limited; only a few spots for guests. I’m not keen to recommend it to others.
