We had stayed on the island before and it was very quiet. However, this apartment is on a main thoroughfare that is very busy and loud, with lots of police sirens. Otherwise, the location is a great central jumping off point for visiting Paris. Our main complaint is that there were no instructions for anything in the apartment and there were some maintenance issues (closet door falling off its tracks, loose chair back). We had to contact the owner for Wi-Fi info, code for getting into the building, how to operate the cooktop, etc. There were no hand towels for the bathroom-we finally found some at the back of the top shelf of a closet. No kitchen towels at all. The street buzzer did not work so if one of us was coming home without one of the two keys, someone would have to go down and let them in. Unfortunately, all of the other places we stayed in had full instructions and everything we could have needed.
