It offers a rare combination of advantages: • A perfect location: in the middle of the 6th arrondissement (metro saint Sulpice is very close by). • 3 windows, tall and large bathes the apartment in light • wooden beams and floor in a 17th century building • a delicate decoration and designed “Le Corbusier” furniture • a Mezzanine allows a 3rd guest for short stays The apt door is to be found on third floor after passing through the 17th century building private courtyard and having climbed the ancient stairs. A short widening corridor leads to the spacious living area. Ceiling is very high and the 3 tall windows bathe the room in light. The wooden floor and beams give a warm feeling. Finally, the famous comfortable black leather ”Le Corbusier” armchair and sofa, delicate Chinese antics collected by the owner give the final elegant touch.. The small mezzanine, right near the windows, can sleep 1 guest for short stays. Under the mezzanine, one finds a working area. The bedroom area is open in the living room. The comfortable double bed folds up vertically in a closet. It can be fold and unfolded with one hand. The mechanism is very well balanced. A small corridor with a large wardrobe leads from bedroom to the bathroom. The bathroom is decorated with green tiles and has a window to receive sun light. It is equipped with a shower. Toilets and washer are in the next room. On the right side of the entrance corridor is the kitchen fully equipped with oven, refrigerator, stoves and a dish washer. As a bonus, Phone calls to land lines in France, and to US, Canada and Australia are generally free. It is also true for more than 50 countries. Moreover, calls to cell phones towards specific countries (often US & Canada) may also be free. Ask us for detail as it may vary with time and policies of operators. This location is a perfect base to visit Paris. It stays 15 minute by subway to most interesting Paris locations AND is a very charming and restful area to be appreciated after a whole day shopping and walking through museums. Neighborhood : • The Saint Germain area is very lively and full of restaurants, cafés, cinemas and trendy shops. The art Galleries of Rue de Seine are very close. One reaches the Eglise Saint Sulpice, and Eglise de Saint Germain des Pres in 2 minutes. And there is even a supermarket to conveniently buy food, which is not always easy inside Paris. • Last but not least, if you have kids, the Luxembourg garden is walking distance (3mn walk). • This location is a perfect base to visit Paris. The 2 big issues were 1) We weren't made aware, by the listing, that one has to walk up/down about 70 (old and creaky) steps every time one wants to go into town, or get a baguette, or find a place to eat (ie at least 3 or 4 times a day). It's in a PERFECT location for what we wanted: it's on a picturesque street with a bakery, cafes, bars, and groceries/household supplies are literally around the corner at Monoprix. The unit was clean, comfortable, and stylish (we loved the exposed beams on the ceiling and being on the fifth floor). Some notes on the unit that might help future guests: - The laundry drier can only "dry" clothes to a damp level (for EU this seems normal; for US this isn't) - Additionally, the laundry/drier buttons/settings can be confusing - There's currently construction happening in the unit nextdoor (as of November 2023) - The ladder to the loft with the single bed is sturdy, but the rungs are thin which makes it difficult to climb. It's lovely. Plenty of room for 2 people, lots of light, terrific location. Just three caveats: (1) the murphy bed was pretty comfortable for us, but might not be so comfortable for larger people. My husband is 6'2" and slim; I am 5'6" and relatively slim, so not a problem for us. But every night we spent there I was thankful not to be longer or wider! (2) the kitchen is super small. There are lots of great places to eat in Paris (!), so this won't be an issue for most visitors, but don't plan on hosting an elaborate dinner for eight in this apartment. The apartment is suitable for only 1-2 people not 3\. The loft is small and the ladder has tiny rods that hurt your feet and there was a large amount of dust and spiders so my daughter did not use the loft, but rather we moved the twin mattress down and she slept on that on the floor ( she is 23 years old) I would not think it's suitable for kids either… The place was a bit dusty and the dryer was not operating. Otherwise great bathroom, great kitchen and beautiful living space. The only bed is a Murphy bed which is comfortable but short and my husbands feet hung off the end !( he is 6 Ft tall) .
