Nearly all of them are built anew at the beginning of the tourist season and dismantled in April or May before the summer monsoon hits. The torrential rain and high water of these storms would likely tear them apart otherwise, and Goa's government wants to keep the hotels here small-scale and simple. Canacona's beach belt, 'discovered' by tourism only after the 1990s, is among the most scenic. Palolem is a milder recreation of an east-meets-west Goan beach, with a rich variety of exotic food. Waking up each morning just 100 paces from a stunning white sand beach felt like a dream. The location is unbeatable — peaceful, scenic, and wonderfully tranquil. The food deserves a special mention.
