Staff is extremely courteous and helpful. Food is good. Room and toilet very clean. They have a cafe where they keep extremely delicious cream rolls. It's definitely not worth 4 stars accreditation. Wifi hardly worked. TV was so small that I wondered why that was even kept. My booking voucher said they bed size was such that 3 people can sleep. In reality it was barely good enough for 2 people to squeeze in. Location wise it's a hassle to go to MG market. Atleast I don't have athletic lungs to tolerate 20 mins of steep uphill climb to reach the hotel, if you are in the market. At night dogs keep howling and I could hardly sleep. As I explored, I realised it might be better to stay in a hotel which is a convenient walk to the market. There are actually quite a few. I was worried about quality of such hotels, compared to a "4 star" hotel like Fern. But my experiment surprised me immensely. Mostly people are very humble and courteous in Gangtok. Food is generally good everywhere. Cleanliness is the nature of this city. I won't name the hotel I moved to from Fern- but in no way it was less than the quality and service I received in Fern.
