The Baltic Sea resort of Baabe itself captivates visitors with its maritime charm, wide sandy beaches, and an interesting history. First mentioned as early as the 13th century, the former fishing and farming village developed into a popular resort starting in the 19th century. Traces of this history can still be discovered today—for example, along the old village street with its thatched-roof houses or in the idyllic spa park.

Thanks to its unique location between the Baltic Sea and the Bodden, Baabe is a paradise for nature lovers. The Baabe Dunes and the Southeast Rügen Biosphere Reserve offer ideal conditions for long walks, bike rides through the Baabe Heath, or hikes to the Bollwerk lookout point. Another real highlight is a ride on the historic “Rasender Roland,” which chugs right through the region.
