About this property
Serene Opoutere Bush Haven (family and pet-friendly)
Sit back and soak up the surrounds and serenity in this nature lover's paradise. This property has been owned by the same family for the past 30 years who look forward to sharing this piece of paradise with you.
With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, this cosy family bach has all the comforts of home including a wood burner (wood supplied), fully equipped modern kitchen (with a water filter tap and Nespresso machine), board games, boogie boards & good quality linen (to name a few)!
The bach is positioned in a quiet cul de sac and located up a bush lined concrete driveway. Off street parking available for 2 cars with plenty of on-street parking available also.
The property is almost surrounded entirely by vast native bush giving a profound sense of peace, privacy and relaxation. Enjoy elevated standing views of the estuary from the deck.
A short five-minute drive to the car park of Coromandel's stunning Opoutere remote surf beach, and a short walk to the pristine estuary - a great spot for bird watching & kayaking, with a boat ramp for public use, and a jetty for fishing.
Opoutere is one of the few coastal areas left on the Coromandel Peninsula where residential development has occurred only at low levels. The natural beauty of the area is outstanding, offering 5km of unspoilt white sand beach, uninhabited with no buildings visible from land or sea. Well known for great surf, and beautiful walking tracks. Local artists to visit include Guity Evelyn at the Topadahil studio.
Opoutere is a 10min drive north from Whangamata township, this is where you will find shops, restaurants, cafes in a seaside resort. The nearest supermarket and petrol stations are also in Whangamata.
You can also use Opoutere as your base to explore the other scenic wonders of the Coromandel Peninsula.
No more than 1 hour drive to: Waihi end of the Hauraki Rail Trail Hot Water Beach Cathedral Cove Whitianga
The location is also enjoyable for more peaceful breaks in the cooler months when the Coromandel region is quieter.
Please note, Opoutere is not connected to the town water supply. The house runs on water tanks. Water conservation is very important while staying at this property and especially during the warmer months. Bottled water for drinking is supplied.

We loved our stay at Emily's bach. Great location, and the bach was comfortable and had everything we needed. Great that linen and cleaning is included in the price. Oputere is a beautiful place, would highly recommend

Quiet and peaceful, great to have two bathrooms and plenty of space, with well equipped kitchen.
Lovely well equipped bach. Was happy there was limited data coverage and no Wifi as it meant we came together as a family without any distraction. A gem of a place and Oputere and it’s surrounds us an excellent place to explore. Thankyou very much.
We (4 humans, 2 furry companions) all had a great time. It’s super peaceful, well equipped and close enough to town for retail therapy. There’s no wifi or cell coverage, but we knew that, only one of the puppies had withdrawal. We noted previous comments about the driveway but found it was easy, zero issues. Thoroughly recommend as a ‘get away from it all’ experience.
We really enjoyed our short stay. Views were awesome and felt like living in a jungle! Had everything we needed except wi-fi but that allowed us to enjoy the beauty and quietness of this lovely little get away.
This beautiful cosy mountain chalet was just what my family needed. The place and the atmosphere gave us a good reset that we needed away from our daily busy lives. We plan to come back again because it was just so relaxing to have a coffee in the mornjng while we enjoyed the stunnning view of the lake and the mountains from the balcony.
Such fantastic communication with host who went out of her way to provide a great stay. Simple gestures of baskets of shampoos etc and coffee pods. House had everything we needed and nice to be allowed dog with us.
Beautiful tidy home. Comfy beds, lovely fireplace and the house is equipped with everything you need and more. Great view from the deck and beautiful bush and birdsong. We had a lovely stay. Thanks so much Emily.

Great for a wedding
Suited our family group perfectly. A walk to and from the wedding at the Oputere campground venue was easy. A older bach but all that was needed.
We had a lovely few days staying at Emilys bach. Well equipped with everything we could need for a comftable stay. Weather wasnt great so kids made good use of the board games. Definitely recommend if youre looking to get away for a technology detox as it is near impossible to get any mobile reception. Thoroughly enjoyed our time in Opoutere, thanks Emily.
Very surprised about the driveway, wow, nothing said about no turnarounds, reverse in or out, steep with corners. Cleaners dont do a good job, need more attention to windows and floors.Beds were good, washer and dryer were used as it rained, very very quiet location, awesome with birds in the tree's.
The property owner was prompt in giving instructions and advice for our stay and was kind to give us courtesy to check out late without extra charge.
The house is completely set up for all your needs and reasonably well maintained considering the age of the house. Kitchen is complete with all appliances in very good working condition. Living rooms, dining and bedrooms/bathrooms are all clean and well set-up. Overall highly recommended, and will defo consider staying here again. =)
My family and I stayed here for 5 days over Christmas. The house was exactly what we wanted. Remote and with enough space for four adults and two kids. The view was great but limited due to trees. The house was well equipped. I would suggest sharpening the knives in the kitchen though. The place was very clean on the inside although we noticed quite a few spiders and spider webs the first day. The house was very warm/hot at night but we couldn’t leave any windows open due to bugs coming in. Screens on some of the windows would help with airflow at night. We appreciated the variety of board games. We were excited to use the kayaks, only to discover they were not usable. They were poorly stored under the deck, and would require a deep clean to be used. It was also further to the water than the listing would lead you to believe. Very disappointing as it was a big factor in choosing this booking. We would stay here again, just maybe make a few tweaks to the listing though.
Fabulous spot! Felt very remote and isolated which was lovely and aovely 5 min walk to the jetty.House was great! Everything you need. Good washing facilities, comfy day bed, games and puzzles.
