I had the mysterious looking onsen all to myself several times around 9-10 pm and it was so cool. The view is amazing and the food was very good. Just know that you are really in the countryside and to get to Onomichi it is going to take at least an hour using public transit. Taxis are available as long as you are willing to spend a little money. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Both are equally beautiful. Order your lunch or dinner in advance at the front desk; the sashimi here is as fresh as it gets and the restaurant has beautiful sea views also. I didn't get to try the sauna/baths, but I will be sure to do so next time I stay. I highly recommend Hotel Innoshima if you have a car to get here. If you are travelling the shimanami kaido by bicycle, it would be quite tiring to access this hotel, unless you are a seasoned athlete. It is high up a long, steep winding road.
