The cabin itself is one of the nicer properties we’ve stayed in. Clean, tons of space, and beautiful surroundings. My kids absolutely loved the creek and played there for hours. We had a great time in the evening around the fire pit.
The only (slightly) negative thing I have on this listing is that I thought it would be truly private. Across the bridge there is a building where we had a few ppl in and out of. Not a big deal, but we were hoping we’d be by ourselves in the middle of nowhere.
All in all, we’ll be back and probably bring some additional family with us.
The booking process was super easy and being that it was last minute due to another companies cancellation that was extremely helpful.
The cabin is in a decent location and had almost everything that was needed. There were a few minor issues but nothing that would keep us from recommending this place.

Excellent experience. Beautiful place; wonderful setting.
This was our 2nd time at the cabin. We absolutely love staying here. We love having the river below. We love that there is a bedroom and bath on each floor. The side patio is our favorite place at this property. We have never used the fire pit next to the river, but hope to the next time!
Located in the peaceful hills of Old Fort, NC (about 30 mins from Asheville), the Kibbin is a perfect location for an inspiring novelist needing a quiet retreat or an adventurous family needing a home base after a long day of enjoying the great outdoors. The local property managers were very communicative and easy to work, making this beautiful cabin an easy choice for anyone looking for a hidden gem!

Reviewer Comments:
The home was beautiful! Loved opening the windows (weather permitting) and listening to the sounds of the creek. It was nice to unplug from the normal pressures and relax and enjoy nature.
We had a wonderful stay at Kibbin. The cottage is absolutely beautiful! It was in immaculate shape and beautifully decorated. My son told me he felt famous staying there :) It is in close proximity to multiple mountain towns, but there is not much to do immediately around the cabin. Be prepared to disconnect (we had no cell phone service and a weaker internet signal), but that was part of the fun. Would 100% stay here again and recommend. Perfect family fall getaway, we were sad to leave.
From check in to check out everything was wonderful about “Kibbin”. The property is really tucked into the hill beside the road so it can be hard to see when you first arrive. Inside it’s absolutely stunning and had everything we needed. We loved listening to the creek from the bedrooms since the weather was nice enough to open the windows at night. Beautiful decorating, thoughtful design and a charming location make this one of the best properties I’ve stayed in. We all loved it. Thank you so much for sharing your home with us.
My 13 year old described the cabin interior as the setting of a Disney movie. It is lovely! My 17 year old son had his waders on and was on the creek fishing for trout every day. My mom said now that we are back home she can’t sleep without the sound of the creek. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming back with friends.

We had a wonderful relaxing time at the Kibbin. Beautiful home, wonderful landscape surrounding, easy check in and check out process. The home as a little history too! Home had all the amenities we needed and more. Great place to get away from the hustle and bustle. Far enough off the beaten path but close enough for a quick drive to Old Fort, Black Mountain and Marion. The house is also close enough to go exploring nearby Linville Gorge and Mount Mitchell. The home, location, and realty company exceeded our expectations. We'll definitely be back.

Look around the Kibbin and be amazed at the effort, the thoughtfulness, the detail of thought put into every aspect of this house. The house history alone is awesome. A true hidden gem in the mountains. Secluded location but still close to everything. Perfect for visiting Linville, Mount Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Chimney Rock, Asheville and Brevard. Stream flows right outside the house and you can listen to it all night with the windows open. Only negative, there is *no microwave* in the house. Please owners, get one, put it in the closet just to give us an option. It is a privilege to be a repeat guest here and words and pictures can't do this place justice.
We drove from Florida so our kids could have some winter fun. This house manages to be spacious and cozy at the same time with a stone cottage exterior and a warm cabin interior.
Very peaceful relaxing setting on a flowing creek and convenient location with Asheville and Black Mountain in one direction, with Sugar Mountain and Beach Mountain ski resorts in the other direction.
This property is in a beautiful setting. The sound of the stream and views of the surrounding woods is very peaceful. It can be challenging to get to at night but we learned our way quickly. Old Fort and Black Mountain are an easy drive and have several great restaurants and shopping in Black Mountain. Asheville, the Biltmore and the Omni are all easy drives, about 25-40 min.
