Beautiful setting and marvellous accommodation. There is a pool, tennis court, putting green, restaurant /bar (great food)and lots of space. The staff are great, enthusiastic and helpful.Walks in the nearby hills or to the lochs. The Village is well placed for access to the magnificent nearby scenery (but do not follow the receptionist recommendation as to how to get to the falls - the road is a nightmare and there is a longer but better way!). All in all just a fantastic break. ##### R Stayed 5 nights in Sep 2024 From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent #### Kathryn D. 18 Apr 2019 #### Outstanding cottage and location Everything in cottage and village is superb. Highly recommend cottage for couple or small family. We will return! ##### Kathryn D. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 10 Mar 2019 #### Everything you need Very relaxing break. Not disappointed lovely cottage, great location and views. We look forward to many years at the cottage. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent #### Simon and Trish G. 10 Dec 2019 #### A gorgeous, well equipped cottage on a resort offering many leisure activities. Loved it, but very expensive to heat. Bring hot water bottles and throws for the evenings. Heating system yet to be upgraded. However, we still had a great time. Enjoy the music evening and the best fish and chips ever in the restaurant. Reception staff couldn’t be more helpful. Maintenance team quickly on hand if necessary. Highly recommended. ##### Simon and Trish G. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent #### Gerard M. 11 Nov 2019 #### Fantastic week the staff were so friendly nothing was a bother to them .My dogs misty and blue loved their runs in field .Well donLinda and all the staff. Thank you all Jerry. ##### Gerard M. From a partner site ### 8/10 Good 28 Sept 2019 #### Always a pleasure to return to Melfort Village We 'owned' a cottage at Melfort Village for several years. After selling we have rented according to our needs. Coachmans Cottage is compact but perfect for a couple like us who enjoy a garden that allows us to feed and view a vast array of birds. Accommodation has continued to improve over the years. We would be happier if reviews allowed us to say 'very good'. Love Argyll and staying at Melfort Village. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 14 Sept 2019 #### Family holiday Loved the cottage and village, everyone we met was very friendly, the woman in the reception gives everyone a great welcome, will definitely be back next year. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 26 Aug 2019 #### going back next year great holiday staff were also great and very helpful Coachmans Cottage was more than we expected and great facilities in the cottage and in Melfort village i cannot stay enough about Melfort as we have already booked for next year From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 6 Apr 2019 #### A peaceful haven While Melfort is an ideal base from which to pursue outdoor sports and touring around Argyll, it is also a wonderful place to relax in complete peace and quiet ... apart from the birdsong if you put out some tasty snacks for our little feathered friends! All the staff are friendly and helpful, the village is beautifully kept and, if you prefer not to go out and about too much, there is always the lovely swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. Melfort is the perfect place to unwind and recharge the batteries. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 16 Feb 2019 #### Lovely couple of days at Melfort Village From start to finish, we couldn’t fault our stay at Melfort Village. Receptionist very welcoming and helpful. Cottage was ideal for us with two young sons and our new 5 month old puppy. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dog. Cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Grounds and facilities are kept very well and bonus of pool tables etc all free. Very quiet and peaceful but plenty for our two boys to do. Extremely dog friendly, so perfect place for a few days away with your family/pets. Will definitely recommend and hope to return From a partner site ### 8/10 Good #### Charlie M. 8 Oct 2018 #### Melfort village. Second time here, the Coachmans is starting to look tired and out of date, the heaters are still storage type and none throughout the property worked well, we had to ask for another plug in heater to keep warm, my wife wanted to take a relaxing bath after i had mine, but the water was cold, mussels had been bought from Oban for our tea but were unable to cook them as there were no lids on any pots to steam them, great location but would probably choose somewhere else to stay next time. ##### Charlie M. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 10 Sept 2018 #### A Week in september Though only a week at the site we found it very convenient to visit local areas, North, South East and West. (Oban, Campbelltown, Inverary and Crinan) All worth a visit and have there own attractions. The scenery in Argyll is amazing. The planning of each day was made easy by the information available at Melfort and the excellent introductory talk, which provided plenty of insights and local knowledge of the whole area. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. There are plenty of good places to eat, that will accept two dogs. We would especially recommend The Crinan Hotel for a Fish Stew and the 'Shower of Herring' for a good meal, provided by 'Mine Host' Kat, who was a joy to meet If you are so inclined there are also plenty of activities available at the site and around. From a partner site ### 8/10 Good 6 Aug 2018 #### Cottage was perfect Coachman’s Cottage was absolutely perfect for us and our little dog. The enclosed garden was brilliant for keeping him safe. Parking at the back of the cottage was easy enough on the days when our thoughtless neighbour wasn’t in but when they parked first we really struggled to get in and out. The village is in a remote location about 25 minutes from Oban. The main reason for booking here was the on site dog friendly restaurant so you can imagine how disappointed we were to be informed just two days before our arrival that the restaurant was going to be closed for 5 of the 7 days. Had we known this earlier we definitely would not have stayed here. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent #### Robert G. 15 Jul 2018 #### Excellent! Beautiful location. Easy to reach other lovely spots - Easdale on coast, Arduaine Gardens. Nice small pool and Jacuzzi. Cottage very comfortable indeed. Very restful experience! ##### Robert G. From a partner site ### 8/10 Good 30 Jun 2018 #### Short stay at Coachmans Cottage Beautiful Cottage Cosy and clean. Secure garden for dog. amenities within a stones throw. Just Perfect. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 9 May 2018 #### 95% Marvelouse site for walkers and dog owners. Accomadation is comfortable & private. Staff is very pleasant & knowledgeable. From a partner site ### 8/10 Good 2 May 2018 #### Argyll-A new area of Scotland visited. A beautiful part of Scotland on the west coast with lovely views of the surrounding area not forgetting the Loch. Coachman's cottage was very comfortable with a garden. The accommodation was well appointed. The staff were able to suggest the many places to visit and gave detailed information of the history - their knowledge was second to none. A friendly atmosphere pervailed throughout. From a partner site ### 8/10 Good 17 Apr 2018 #### Great wee escape This cottage was perfect for the 2 of us and our dogs. The walled garden is a lovely suntrap and really handy for just opening the door and letting the dogs out and the open fire is very nice in the cooler evenings. The dog paddock at Melfort is a fantastic edition to the site providing a secure place for dogs to get off to run about. Plenty of onsite activities and nice walks from the house. Staff are very helpful. From a partner site ### 10/10 Excellent 21 Mar 2018 #### A restful stay in the peace of the Argyll countryside Melfort Village is a truly magical place. I go purely to "recharge my batteries" by swimming in the delightfully quiet pool, watching the birds on the feeder outside my window and snuggling down with a log fire in the evenings. Both the landscaping around the Village and all the accommodation are beautifully maintained. The properties are also very well equipped but there is an excellent restaurant in the Village if you don't want to cook. The village itself is so quiet yet it is close to all sorts of activities for the lively and adventurous. On that note, do go along to the Welcome talk on a Sunday morning where Olwyn will tell you everything you need to know about the area. Archival ### 10/10 Excellent 21 Dec 2017 #### A quiet get-away We had a comfortable cottage, cozy with a real fire. It was great to re-charge our batteries before the Christmas onslaught. The staff are all very friendly and informative about local activities. They go out of their way to make your holiday the best that it can be. Archival ### 8/10 Good 14 Dec 2017 #### £ Day Break Scenery, as always, spectacular. Staff so friendly and Musical night a treat. Found the bed a it too solid for me, but that's a personal point of view. A cheap 3 day break, just what was needed. Archival ### 10/10 Excellent 27 Nov 2017 #### A Magical area of Scotland Having never been to this area of Scotland before we found it a magical place to holiday. The cottage was excellent as were the staff who were always willing to suggest places to visit and to receive feedback. Archival ### 10/10 Excellent 3 Nov 2017 #### Return to Paradise Highly recommend a stay at this very well run Village in this unspoiled tranquil location. Have been coming to Melfort for over thirty years. Archival ### 10/10 Excellent 12 Sept 2017 #### Coachman's Cottage at Melford Village 2/9/17 The Cottage has been recently refurbished with good quality bathroom, kitchen, lighting and 2 comfortable sofas in the sitting room with TV and WiFi. Very cosy to come back to after day out in the rain and knowing that on-site restaurant 'Shower of Herring' is available with good food at reasonable prices. Walled garden appreciated by dog. Very helpful staff with good knowledge of nearby attractions and ferries to islands. Need a car to explore the area. ### Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > - [Holiday Inn Aberdeen West by IHG](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Aberdeen-Hotels-Holiday-Inn-Aberdeen-West.h1583000.Hotel-Information) > - [Dollar Lodge and Holiday Home Park](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dollar-Hotels-Dollar-Lodge-And-Holiday-Home-Park.h16873772.Hotel-Information) > - [Red Squirrel, Stevenston by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stevenston-Hotels-Red-Squirrel.h31884764.Hotel-Information) > - [Tigh Mor](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stirling-Hotels-Tigh-Mor.h23064993.Hotel-Information) > - [UHI Inverness – Campus Accommodation](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Inverness-Hotels-Cityheart-Inverness-Campus-Accommodation.h18692953.Hotel-Information) > - [Bentley Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Motherwell-Hotels-Bentley-Hotel.h32118669.Hotel-Information) > - [Strathburn Hotel Inverurie by Compass Hospitality](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Inverurie-Hotels-Strathburn-Hotel-Inverurie-By-Compass-Hospitality.h12578746.Hotel-Information) > - [Rusacks St Andrews](https://www.expedia.co.uk/St-Andrews-Hotels-Rusacks-St-Andrews.h21486.Hotel-Information) > - [Crieff Hydro](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Crieff-Hotels-Crieff-Hydro.h574583.Hotel-Information) > - [Wyndham Duchally Country Estate](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Auchterarder-Hotels-CLC-Duchally-Country-Estate-Hotel-Resort.h79023.Hotel-Information) > - [Leonardo Hotel Inverness](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Inverness-Hotels-Jurys-Inn-Inverness.h20408.Hotel-Information) > - [Myrtle Bank Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gairloch-Hotels-Myrtle-Bank-Hotel.h20233396.Hotel-Information) > - [Seabraes Apartments and Rooms](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dundee-Hotels-Seabraes.h67115620.Hotel-Information) > - [Lochgreen House Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Troon-Hotels-Lochgreen-House-Hotel.h12755818.Hotel-Information) > - [The Park Hotel Peebles](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Peebles-Hotels-The-Park-Hotel-Peebles.h13177753.Hotel-Information) > - [Radisson Blu Hotel, Perth](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Perth-Hotels-The-Station-Hotel.h4564713.Hotel-Information) > - [The Victoria Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Kirkcaldy-Hotels-The-Victoria-Hotel.h4482159.Hotel-Information) > - [Hot tub lodge with stunning view](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Taynuilt-Hotels-Hot-Tub-Lodge-With-Stunning-View.h59769535.Hotel-Information) > - [Loch Lomond Waterfront Luxury Lodges](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Glasgow-Hotels-Loch-Lomond-Waterfront-Luxury-Lodges.h27365911.Hotel-Information) > - [Raven’s Cliff, Motherwell by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Motherwell-Hotels-Ravens-Cliff.h23151361.Hotel-Information) > - [Pine Bank Chalets](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Aviemore-Hotels-Pine-Bank-Chalets.h29344496.Hotel-Information) > - [Buccleuch Arms Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Moffat-Hotels-Buccleuch-Arms-Hotel-Restaurant.h5436640.Hotel-Information) > - [The Millcroft Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Gairloch-Hotels-Millcroft-Hotel.h35254076.Hotel-Information) > - [Highgrove House Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Kilmarnock-Hotels-Highgrove-House-Hotel.h29841477.Hotel-Information) > - [Macdonald Strathspey Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Aviemore-Hotels-Macdonald-Strathspey-Hotel.h2429678.Hotel-Information) > - [Macdonald Aviemore Woodland Lodges](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Aviemore-Hotels-Macdonald-Aviemore-Luxury-Woodland-Lodges.h34755276.Hotel-Information) > - [Metro Inns Falkirk](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Falkirk-Hotels-OYO-Metro-Inns-Falkirk.h22202528.Hotel-Information) > - [The Fox And Willow](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Ayr-Hotels-The-Fox-And-Willow.h4563123.Hotel-Information) > - [The Esplanade Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Dunoon-Hotels-OYO-The-Esplanade-Hotel.h6467698.Hotel-Information) ---
