5/5 Excellent
"The staff are wonderful. They picked us up at the train station and accommodated some of our dietary needs. The baths are great. We had a great time"
"Stayed one night and a traditional Japanese room. The room was spacious (for Japanese standards) and clean. Balcony with View and sounds of the rushing river. The highlight of the hotel is definitely the onsen. Multiple indoor and outdoor bathing/soaking opportunities. We spent time in both public and private sections. Private was ¥2000 for 45 minutes. Also, a dry sauna, relaxing room, and massage chairs. Very helpful staff who gave a restaurant recommendation – – which was one of our favorite restaurants in all of Japan."

"Excellent customer service, good food, nice French and Japanese meals provided daily during stay. Hotel is dated and need some facelift. Love the 3 on-site Onsens, saw an amazing sunrise on last day at hotel. Would come back to Hotel New Akao if going to Atami again. "
"Right from the beginning, the staff was very helpful! Whether it was with transportation requests or restaurant recommendations for take-out, the person at the front desk looked at multiple options and worked with us until a solution was found. "
