What a place!

Lots of character - needs staff training/upgrading

Staff were thin on the ground and some not very professional, virtually no choice of wines ie 2 red and 2 white, most of the 'pump' beers were off. We were supposed to be upgraded at the request of a friend and weren't! The bathroom was freezing no radiator or towel rail, a bulb was out in the ceiling light, the handle fell off one of the drawers in the bedside cabinet and the front of the drawer off another. Food was good, and the place has a lot of character and great grounds. Unfortunately also during our stay we understand several bottles of gin went missing from a private party!!!

The staff were attentive and friendly. Check in and swift ordering of a last minute taxi were efficient. Room was a good size. Period property with history Lovely old character building
