As motels go, Hillcrest was atypical, meaning not some dodgy place on the side of the road. Bed was clean and comfortable. New furniture has been put in along with a fridge and mini microwave. It is an older motel but it didn’t have that weird smell. It was quiet, I felt safe. The people running the front office were nice.
The property was homey. Everything was clean and well kept. The staff was amazing, very friendly and out going. The restaurant they suggested was also very good. I am definitely going back! A fantastic experience all around!
This property was in pretty good condition and the room was clean. For travelers, it can be said that it does the job.
There were a couple inconveniences. The A/C unit is manually operated (either high or low A/C or fan). The room stayed cool but we didn't have a way to have it maintain a temperature. There also is a decent amount of light that gets through the curtain on the door and window, so if you need a dark space this may not be the place for you.
Our room (104) also had a toilet that ran every 15 seconds or so. I imagine this could be addressed pretty easily by staff, though, and it didn't affect its performance.
So overall, a good room, decent property. Just needs a little continuing upkeep.
The staff was very polite and helpful. Are air-conditioner did stop working but they made sure we ended up with a working one. If you want a clean, safe and friendly place to stay I would recommend staying here.
Just needed a place to sleep overnight, so we were not expecting much. The clerk was friendly enough, but not impressive. We were given keys for our door that was just a few doors down from the office. The keys did not work, and one was stuck in the lock. We had to go back to the office and the clerk followed us back. My husband had been able to get the key out, but the clerk just put a code into the keypad---that was also on the door. So the door was open, but we had no keys and no code for ourselves. Room was rustic but clean. In the morning we had no running water and someone was in the room next to us banging on the pipes or something. Again, just a place to sleep, but not anything else.
The property is under renovation. Walls preped for repainting and carpet cleaning. Very long check-in procedure. Computer would not pull up the reservation. Manager was wonderful. She re-entered all info and got us registered and keyed. When we got to and opened the unit, it was not prepared for occupation. She walked to our unready unit, met us with the key for a fresh unit, was very sorry about the mix-up and made sure we were comfortable before she went back to the office. During the night some one tried to enter our unit. My challenge was answered by a man who explained he was sorry, he had misread the door number or key number. Next morning the manager had coffee and doughnuts for us and was sorry we had been disturbed (the man had informed her of his error). This is an older motel and as such it needs serious work. Hope the finished work can match the manager.
