Great location & Smooth check in. Historic hotel with modern touches. Enjoyed one bedroom suite that was quiet even though centrally located. Nice gym with indoor pool and hot tub. Staff were gracious. Only issue were the cabs. My husband thought we would save time by taking a cab vs Uber/lyft since they were already at the property. We used cabs twice & both times the cabbie claimed it was a flat rate. After the first time speaking with bell staff we understood there is flat rate to airport only. The day we left we took cab to train station & cabbie claimed it was flat rate of $25 ( less than 1 mile). My husband demanded the cab be stopped but cabbie would not stop. They argued all the way to train station. We ended up paying $15. Recommend NOT using any cab service in Seattle. I know most people don’t anymore and they are quite bitter & will try to take advantage of customers.

Skim across the whale-filled waters between the islands of the region. One of the most scenic spots is Whidbey IslandOpens in a new window, where you will find the picturesque town of CoupevilleOpens in a new window. Multicolored wooden façades line the waterfront. Look for them from the boat as you pull into shore here.

Outside of the towns, Whidbey Island features a diverse and wildlife-filled landscape. Watch for orcas breaching the water while cycling around the rural island. Explore the woodlands and cliffs of Deception Pass State ParkOpens in a new window, which covers over 4,000 acres (1,600 hectares) in the north of Whidbey.

To get to Northwest Washington, fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and drive north. La Conner and Mount Vernon are both under 90 minutes away by car, while Bellingham, near the Canadian border, can be reached in just under 2 hours.

Visit throughout the year to enjoy Northwest Washington’s mild climate and resident pods of orcas. Summer in the San Juan Islands can get very busy, with long lines for boat rides, so come in spring or fall for quieter excursions around the scenic waters.
