We had a wonderful stay at La Fortuna Lodge. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming and the overall vibe was great. We stayed in a room with a view of the volcano and we were able to watch birds directly. The bed and room were comfortable. Centrally located for easy access to shops and restaurants. Superb, secure location. Lovely campus. Peaceful, tranquil. Absolutely fantastic buffet breakfast. Lunch/Dinner menu not great. Poolside bar and grill lovely. Really enjoyed the Jacuzzi in the rooms. We had a wonderful time. Would highly recommend.

Really liked our stay here. It’s still a work in progress, so going here in the future will be even better. But for our stay, the bungalows (two story lodges) were brilliant! So clean. Airy. Had everything we could need. Cleaned daily. Food was available, but at cost. This wasn’t an issue and we enjoyed it washed down with a drink or too in the bar area. The hot tub/spa was nice. Lovely temp and surrounded by forest. Very relaxing. We stayed as a family of three, our son 9yrs of age....

Wow. Where to even begin? This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. Everyone here clearly works hard to make their guests feel welcome. We were greeted on arrival with a complementary welcome drink and a friendly chat about where everything was and we were entitled to. I recently stayed at La Fortuna, Natural Green Lodge. When I arrived to check in, there wasn’t anyone at the front desk, and I had to wait about five minutes before someone appeared. It wasn’t the best first impression. There were also quite a lot of bugs around the property, which was a bit off - putting. The room was spacious, perfect for two people. The bathroom was also big and cormfortable with a hairdryer. You're surrounded by nature and can see many bords from the balcony while having breakfast from your room. My only two criticisms are, first that the pillows available are too thick, second is that the wifi didn't always work properly in the evening.

The room was spacious and had everything we needed for our short stay. Breakfast had a great choice and was delicious. Staff were really helpful and friendly. We really loved our stay.

Whilst our actual room was rather basic, the overall setting of the lodge was stunning. Amazing scenery and access to view the wildlife.

A good middle of town hostel. Rooms were spacious, airy and clean. The toilet roll holder needed to be replaced and the information in the rooms about the cost of the breakfast buffet was not correct, leading to an embarrassing confrontation at the restaurant the following morning. The communal kitchen was very small and often without crockery, but was fine if only a few people were using it (one or two!) Overall, a good stay here and the guys behind reception did their utmost to get good prices...

Excellent location, within its own wildlife reserve Giant Green iguanas, lots of different birds and butterflies. Great food and friendly helpful staff.

Borinquen has wonderfully landscaped grounds (with armadillos and other animals roaming around) built into geothermal area – and featuring a natural sauna seating on top of a bubbling hot spring, excellent muds for the skin and natural hot springs as well as short trails through the geothermal area. The hotel has the most amazing views and the staff go above and beyond to help you and are so friendly. Well located for trips, restaurants etc. We originally booked last minute as decided to travel a day earlier and ended up cancelling our pre-booked accommodation and extending our stay despite already paying for the other hotel... The hotel is set in pretty gardens a few minutes from the centre of Santa Elena. We saw a sloth in the gardens. The bathroom and hot water provision was very good and the breakfast was excellent. It was cold and windy when we were there so it would have been good to have the option of some heating in the room.
