"The room was very nice, neat and clean. The pool area was really nice. Overall, I enjoyed my stay.. But for older people that stay there , which i'm getting older to. They really need to find a way to build at least one elevator for this property, really hard for elderly people to get up-and-down the steps the hotel is very nice . It'\nS awesome to have a mom and pop kind of hotel still left in the area.The beach acces real nice"

"It’s a decent room especially for the price. However, there’s cracks all in the bathroom and we had a few issues but they were resolved pretty quickly. The staff was lovely and responded quickly to fix our issues! We had a beach view from the window. That was very lovely. It’s a great place to stay especially if you just need somewhere to lay your head. Just wish that the bar at the pool connected to the front was open more."
Palmetto Beachfront Hotel, a By the Sea Resort

"We enjoyed this place. The pool and hot tub is open 24/7. They did a 7pm-7am maintenance of the pool during our stay but let us swim until almost 7:30pm. The staff were always nice. The only issue we had was that our balcony light was out and some of the lights around the pool was out. Also, only one elevator was working but they had to order the part to fix the other. Sometimes that cannot be helped! We will definitely be staying here again. The views were beautiful! The arcade is non existent though. Also, we checked out the fitness room and although it was limited with equipment due to size, I do believe it had all we would have needed!"

"Nice location away from the crowds. The premises was in dire need of cleaning. Someone was there one day pressure washing outside at least. The unit/room itself smelled like a bad hangover. They would benefit greatly from ripping the carpet up and replacing with something that doesn't hold smell, as I'm sure that was the culprit of the aroma. Trash was overflowing at each trash location we passes. Just a few things noticed. We are aren't the type to need a luxury resort, so it was a great stay. Very short walk out to the beautiful sandy beaches."

"The location was great. The restaurants and overall hotel made us have a wonderful weekend. Loved the balcony where we could get some of the ocean breeze. The only thing that was Laking was the tub area had some mold. I wasn't impressed with the maid service."
The Island Resort at Fort Walton Beach

"The beach view was amazing. All the staff was friendly. We listened to a local duo (the velveteens) one night at the beach bar and they were amazing. When we visit the island resort next time I hope they are on the schedule. Price wise, the food and drinks are up there. We had our breakfasts included with our room and we won't do that again. $55 without a tip for 2 people on the buffet is high. Especially when the variety of food isnt there and the taste is just okay, nothing to brag about.. The bar in the main building hasn't had draft beer in at least 3 months. The Compressor is down and parts have been ordered, but no one knows how much longer it will be. The a/c units in our suite worked, but they are somewhat noisy. We froze when they would run and roast when they wouldn't. I'm guessing that's typical for the Florida heat in August. Overall, our 2nd trip to the island resort in 2 years was good. We will eventually stay there again, but not sure when."
