North Sands

We recently stayed in the Westminster apartment for 4 nights and overall had a lovely experience. The apartment was well equipped with everything we needed, clean in most areas, and in a fantastic location, making it the perfect base to explore the Lake District. The biggest positive was the host, who was absolutely amazing throughout our stay. They were always available, incredibly friendly, and genuinely went above and beyond whenever we needed anything. Their excellent communication and hospitality really made our trip even more enjoyable. There were, however, a couple of downsides. We noticed several cobwebs around the apartment with spiders in them, which suggested some areas hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly. The biggest issue was the noise from the apartment above. For three mornings in a row, from around 6am to 9am, the guests upstairs were stomping around, running back and forth, and making a lot of noise, which constantly woke us up. We informed the host, who quickly contacted the guests, and we really appreciated their efforts. Unfortunately, the noise continued, as the guests were inconsiderate of others staying in the building. Despite these issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay thanks to the excellent location, comfortable apartment, and exceptional host. We’d happily stay again and hope the cleaning and noise issues can be improved for future guests.

Low Wood Bay Resort is a fantastic hotel in an absolutely beautiful location, surrounded with great activity options and great options of its own. The hotel is very nicely finished with a historic Inn at its core surrounded by more expansive modern facilities. It houses 3 restaurant options from pub thru own restaurant to premium dining, with breakfast offered in the lovely W restaurant every day and dining options at the W pub (also with outside patio), and the premium Blue Smoke restaurant, opening with a great Afternoon Tea offering at 11.45 and finishing with great 'al a carte' up to closing time. Service at all was warm and friendly, if not always prompt or top-drawer. It has a spa, which is set up primarily for couples, adults with only the morning session open to families with kids under 16, which was a bit disappointing. The gem was the associated Low Wood Bay Watersports Centre and Marina directly across the road, with everything from stand-up paddle to yacht charters and including kayak, dingy and keelboat hire, all at reasonable prices. We highly recommend Low Wood Bay, and will stay there again ourselves for sure!

Very dissapointing stay. Rooms were tired, food was below par with us not enjoying our meal at all. As a resident we struggled to find anywhere to sit in the bar as the bar/lounge was full of people visiting to eat food. Kept up all night by dogs barking so didn't sleep well. Had to wait for 20 minutes one morning at breakfast before we were given a menu or asked if we wanted a tea or coffee and only provided after we prompted the staff. Only plus was that generally the staff were nice and attentive on other occasions. Hotel in need of a full refurbishment
