Glamping in North America

"The beds weren’t really that comfortable, they had a sort of rough texture that was uncomfortable when laying down especially the covers, and the entire room isn’t as nice and clean as displayed in the pictures which understandably isn’t really a big issue for me but it feels like false advertisement for the image they are trying to convey. I genuinely think I would have had a better nights sleep at a cheap motel in the middle of nowhere. Given the fact that it’s New York I can understand why the prices are what they are, and the fact I only stayed for one night. I wasn’t planning on staying in New York for long so the inconveniences I had with my stay weren’t really as big an issue, but I will say that most of the employees are top notch besides the ones with the “i hate my job” look on their faces."

"Very charming hotel, built in the early 1900’s Retains nice features from the period like wood panneling in the lobby walls. The rooms are nicely arranged. The water pressure was a little low for the shower. Very decent price-quality ratio"

"The rooms were clean, but old so some areas didn't appear as clean, such as peeling paint on bathroom walls and stains in the tub-but still clean. The room was very basic. We had 4 people in 1 room and it's too many people for the size of the room and bathroom. It was very cramped. No fridge or coffee maker in the room. The downstairs lobby is pretty and staff were friendly. "

"Everything was just about perfect! The only thing I wish were more available, was more toilet paper in the bathroom. Stayed for two nights, and had to resort to using Kleenex tissues the second evening and night. Also, the plug in the bathtub unfortunately did not work."

"When arriving, the wife and kids were excited to be there. But soon that went away. the main entrance is closed, so you have to come around the side of the building. The checking in was great lobby was clean.Everything seemed great. Once we got to our room the place looked like there was a party there before we got there. When going downstairs to explain that the room was a mess and showed them pictures they went ahead a change us to a different room. Now the problem with that is that our original room had 2 beds in the room. So they go ahead, and give us is two separate rooms with single beds so separating the family. They saud not to worry that the next day they will have the room clean and ready for us. The next day we go out, do everything.Visit the city and when we get back to tye room our door have a double lock on them. We check with the dront desk to see whats going on. And the reason for the lock is because they weren't sure in which of the two room we where going to stay with. And at this point I'm confused because why would I stay with one of the rooms if both the rooms are single beds. And it's 4 of us in total. When we originally got a room 2 beds. But long story short i had to pay out of pocket for a upgrade to have a room that fits the family. Because the 1st room we got was in the higher floor and they wanted to have us somewhere In a way lower floor to have a view of a wall out the window lets say."

"This hotel had everything we were looking for. After researching many options and reading lots of reviews, I’m very happy with our choice and would stay again! The location is great, about a 10 min walk from Times Square. I never felt the area was unsafe, despite some comments. The entrance is secure, with locked doors and security always present. The staff were always friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is every 2 days, which we found perfectly adequate since we were out all day and we are clean people. The room size was good, and the kitchenette was very well equipped, including a large fridge freezer. The bathroom was good with no issues at all. We were lucky to have a view of the Empire State Building and The Edge. On the downside, the air conditioning and heating system was difficult to control and quite noisy. The mattress in our room was worn and could use replacing. Storage space was adequate for our needs, with a small cupboard to hang clothes. Breakfast was buffet with a good variety of hot and cold food, with extended hours compared to other hotels. At around 8am I always found a table easily. It got busier after, with short waits and some people taking food to their rooms. The 3 elevators can be busy, so some waiting is expected, be patient. They also stored our luggage for free after checkout until 6pm. We paid in full when booking, and the hotel only held a $250 deposit, which was refunded promptly an got it back in my bank account the day after checkout."
