We stayed for carnival and the distance to events held in the Savannah was amazing. Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Newtown?
The best area to stay in Newtown is the neighbourhood around Queen's Park Savannah, particularly the streets immediately west of the park like Maraval Road and St. Clair Avenue.

This area is the heart of Newtown, known for its elegant historic-era architecture and its proximity to the expansive Queen's Park Savannah. It's a well-kept district with tree-lined streets, offering a more refined experience compared to the busier parts of Port of Spain. You'll find a selection of upscale hotels and guesthouses here, many with their own gardens.

For couples, this area offers a relaxed setting with easy access to cultural attractions. You can enjoy leisurely strolls around the Savannah, visit the Magnificent Seven historic mansions, or explore the Royal Botanic Gardens. There are also several excellent restaurants within walking distance, great for an evening out.

Business travellers will find this area particularly convenient. It's close to many corporate offices and embassies, and the ease of access to major roadways makes commuting straightforward.
When is the best time to go to Newtown?
The best time to go to Newtown, Trinidad and Tobago, is during the dry season, which runs from January to May. This period offers the most pleasant weather for exploring and enjoying the outdoor activities the island has to offer.

During these months, you'll experience lower humidity and less rainfall, with consistently warm temperatures. This makes it ideal for visiting the botanical gardens, exploring the historic architecture, or taking day trips to nearby beaches without the interruption of heavy showers.

While the dry season is generally more popular, the shoulder months of December and June can also be good options.
Can I cancel my hotel reservation on Expedia?
You can cancel your hotel reservation on Expedia, though it depends on the cancellation policy of your booking. Most bookings are refundable if canceled within 24-48 hours of the scheduled arrival. Be sure to check your booking confirmation for the exact cancellation policy. If free cancellation is available, you can cancel directly through your Expedia account by logging in, going to "My Trips", and selecting your reservation. To find flexible deals, filter your search by "Fully refundable property" for hotels in Newtown.
How much is the nightly rate at a Newtown hotel?
Prices for hotels in Newtown often vary, but you can find a great deal on Expedia. All sorts of factors affect price, such as the time of year or the days of the week you choose for your stay. Find the best deals by being flexible with your dates, and sort search results by "Price: low to high" for the cheapest rate.
