It's comprised of 2 separate structures as one rental experience\* on a 95-acre nature preserve with 7 miles of hiking trails, natural grasses and habitats, fruit tree orchard, the beginnings of an apiary, and abundant wildlife. This retreat sleeps up to 8 adults and 4 children, between the two properties with 4 queen beds/rooms and 3.5 bathrooms. The first guest structure: The Barn at Pumpkin Ridge was built with locally-sourced soft and hard-woods. It features towering oak tree postings and an original artist-created elk chandelier as centerpieces of the indoor living experience. Additionally, The Barn has two vaulted indoor wood-burning fireplaces (main level and lower level) made of local river rock, hand crafted, oak log queen-sized beds, a full-service gourmet kitchen, an outdoor bar, grilling deck, wildlife observation deck, hot tub, and primitive fire ring. We offer two queen beds with private sitting areas and 2.5 bathrooms to meet the needs of our most discerning guests. Just a brief walk down the gravel lane, The Stable at Pumpkin Ridge has been converted into a boutique space boasting 2 queen bedrooms with full sitting areas and 1 full bathroom complete with infrared sauna. On the main level, a vintage pool table flanks the open recreational space, with many nostalgic lawn and board games abound; including darts, croquet, and more. The center of the structure boasts a comfortable seating area with a large, mounted flat screen television. Conversation tables and vintage board game tables pepper the floor plan. Everything was tidy and clean. The beds were quite comfortable which I really appreciated because we wanted to decompress and relax in the hot tubs while the kids played in the yard and games indoors. The two structures are unique and modern timber dwellings. We stayed in early spring when the foliage wasn't in yet. If you come in summer or fall you'll be on a high plateau surrounded by beech and sycamore trees. Secluded location where you can barely see the lights of the distant neighbors. Beautiful surrounding with plenty of hiking. Very close to state parks. Fabulous space for whole group to enjoy. We cooked every night and sat around large Dining room table- family style. We will defiantly make this location on our yearly stay for Hocking Hills. It is very close to many of the popular trails however the property has so many things to do you do not have to leave if you don't want to. The only thing I wish I knew in advance is that this has well water only. Luckily we also rented another cabin off site and that property had water treatment so we could shower. This was a really great property! Very secluded and perfect for various occasions. We enjoyed all of the games and activities that they have available. The ticks are very bad, so make sure to bring spray and keep an eye out. The property was not very clean upon our arrival with crumbs on the couches and lots of dirt and debris on the floors. They have a vacuum cleaner on property though, so we just took care of that ourselves. However, with the steep cleaning fee, we felt that it should have been better upon our arrival. ##### Tyler G. Roughly a 3 minute walk between buildings. The Barn and Stable are both beautiful structures. Comfortably furnished and stocked with the all necessities for the stay, just bring food and toiletries. The water is potable but we did not find it tolerable for drinking. So I would recommend bringing drinking and cooking water as well. Between the game area at the Stable and the hot tubs at both buildings we found plenty of ways to relax and bond after a long day of hiking. We truly enjoyed our stay at Pumpkin Ridge. ##### Rachel W. The entire family loved this property! It was very clean and the kitchen had everything we needed to make meals for a large group. The adults and kids enjoyed the pool table and corn hole set in the stable. The hot tubs were great after a day exploring Old Man’s Cave and Cedar Falls, which were just 25 minutes away. It was very peaceful and had surprisingly good internet for being such a remote property. The only thing I wished it had was a TV in the barn for unwinding in the evening, but wasn’t a huge deal. It appeared as though they did have one at one time in the basement, but it must have broke and was not replaced yet. There is a large TV in the stable that the kids watched in the evening. We all loved this property and will definitely stay here again. ##### Jason J. They are both clean and comfortable and close to each other. It was nice to have the smaller cabin close enough to walk right over to the larger one but still its own place. There may be 500 ft in between. It was such a relaxing trip, both cabin's have hot tubs, both had all the kitchen utensils we needed, both full kitchens. The beds at this cabin were some of the most comfortable I've ever slept in, and I was really impressed by the cleanliness of both of the cabins. The stable, or smaller cabin had a pool table and large TV, however the larger cabin only had a 32-in TV upstairs, no other TV in the house so that was difficult with so many kids. There were lots of board games to play and things to keep us occupied. It's about a 20 minute ride into town to get to Walmart, restaurants, or most of the hiking destinations. I was very happy with the cabin, and our family had a wonderful time. I would highly recommend, especially if you have family coming that would like separate spaces. ##### Matt G. The houses were both clean and exactly as described. The trails were enjoyed by us and the hot tubs were a must both nights. The buildings are both stocked with fun things to do between the pool table to the books and games. The trip was awesome and we would totally stay again. Locking the barn was a bit of a challenge so the locks could use some love. I know you should be outside enjoying nature but we had one guest that was sick all weekend and the WiFi was so weak they couldn’t even use the smart tvs to stream movies nor could we have a movie night. Also, the communications from the rental company were a tad off. I had no idea to be expecting an email from the company after booking. I received a stern text about an email I didn’t know to be looking for in my spam. After that was all fixed I was also told my check out instructions would be emailed to me the day before checkout, only for them to hit my email the day after we had already checked out. The property is 2 houses about 50-100 yards apart but a quick walk between spots. Second house (stable) has a minimal kitchen and small fridge but not a problem if you’re planning to do most cooking at the main house.Cell phone reception is spotty at the property, and Wi-Fi is slow (3 Mbps satellite) but it’s useable enough.Grocery store options are 1 small local in McArthur or drive 30 minutes to Kroger, so come prepared. Provided kitchen tools are adequate, appliances are good. Houses are a bit smaller than the photos look but we never felt cramped or limited by the space. Pool table, 2 hot tubs, chest of board games, ping pong, offer some chill gaming options. Second house (stable) could use some awnings or something for relaxing outside but this is a minor point.Only “major” issue we encountered was the main house hot water heater was off a few times. This is due to something on the electric circuit causing the breaker to trip. Property maintenance was quick to respond and guided us through accessing the breaker panel. Resetting the breaker immediately fixed the issue, so I wouldn’t hold this against the property. However the property owners should have this issue fixed for future visitors. ##### Aaron A.
