About this property
100-Acre Private Cabin | Trails, Creek, Pond & Total Seclusion 4BR, 4BA
Set on 100 private acres with more than three miles of private hiking trails and a serene, well-stocked fishing pond where you can cast a line at sunrise and watch the water come alive with bass and bluegill (catch & release), Our Brown County Shack offers a rare combination of space, privacy, and convenience. Perched on a hilltop with no neighboring homes in sight and built in 2020, this custom log cabin delivers the kind of seclusion travelers search for but rarely find. Surrounded by forest, open fields, half a mile of private creek frontage, and abundant wildlife, guests can truly disconnect while still being just one mile from Brown County State Park and only half a mile from Valley Branch Retreat.
The cabin showcases exceptional craftsmanship throughout, including beautiful Amish-made furniture that adds warmth, quality, and timeless cabin character. The lower level features a comfortable den with satellite TV, DVD player, mini fridge, and microwave, along with a king bedroom and private full bathroom. The main level offers a spacious living area with a wall of windows overlooking the surrounding woods and water, a fully equipped kitchen for family meals, and three additional bedrooms—one king and two queens—each paired with oversized showers and convenient bathroom access. Smart TVs, satellite service, city water, and other modern comforts make it easy to enjoy a peaceful country setting without giving up everyday conveniences.
Outdoor living is at the heart of the experience at Our Brown County Shack. Multiple large, covered porches provide plenty of room to relax, gather, enjoy morning coffee, or simply listen to the sounds of nature, while the outdoor fire pit is perfect for evenings under the stars. Guests can hike the private trails, explore the creek, fish the pond, watch wildlife, or enjoy stargazing far from city lights. The property is dog-friendly for well-behaved small dogs and conveniently located near Brown County's hiking, biking, fishing, zip-lining, arts, shopping, and dining attractions. Access is also easier than many secluded Brown County properties—the road leading to the property is well-maintained blacktop, with only the private driveway being gravel. For guests who want room to roam, space to breathe, and true privacy without feeling far removed from Brown County's most popular attractions, Our Brown County Shack offers an exceptional setting.
Located in Nashville, this cabin is in a rural area. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Brown County State Park and Tangeman Woods, while Brown County Music Center and Brown County Art Guild are cultural highlights. Travelling with kids? Great house in the woods secluded with tons of hiking trails and a fishing pond. The house is appointed and has the minimum of what you need to stay. There are a lot of items they do not provide in the house so be prepared to bring a lot of necessities. Other than that it’s an amazing place to stay to get a break
Five ladies who have all been friends for decades (some for 6 decades)and our 2 doggies enjoyed a great time at "Our Brown County Shack". It was very clean, had everything you'd need to cook all of your meals which we did every day. The beds were very comfortable and having 2 covered decks was awesome since it stormed a few times and we could sit outside and watch/listen to the rain. The only drawback and it was a minor one was there are not a lot places to walk your dog unless you go down a steep gravel driveway to a grassy pasture. There are hiking trails you could use, but we were a bit concerned about ticks. All and all, the dogs adapted and everything worked out fine. And, we did get our workout everyday with the steps! Added bonus, the ladies at Hills O'Brown County Rentals were great to deal with when checking in and out. Great place!
The property was spacious and well designed. It would be great for families with children because of the two family areas. Beds were comfortable. Communications were prompt and clear. Very friendly.
We had a great time. Beautiful home with hiking trails on the property. Then came the tornado on Friday evening. Unfortunately, loads of trees came down blocking the entrance to the home as well as covering 2 of our cars. Also, the power was out. The owner came the next morning with chain saws and an excavator to clear the downed trees and uncover our cars. We cut our trip short due to the lack of power. I can't say enough about how safe we were in a really well-built house! Look forward to returning.
Thoroughly enjoyed our Brown County Shack experience. With no wifi and limited cell service, it's the perfect, peaceful location to unwind and unplug. We enjoyed the trails, exploring the property and sitting on the deck. Tons of room and space for our family (5 adults). The location is about 10 minutes from Story and 10-15 minutes from Nashville. We'll
definitely stay here again.
