This qualifies as a cheap hotel, whether in Japan or in the US. The carpet in the room was dirty. The room melled worse than the bathroom and was very small. The location was about three blocks from the subway and about 6 blocks from the JR station, so you need to take a taxi to and from the JR station with your luggage (780 Yen). There is a lack of restaurants near the hotel. The breakfast was a small variety of items that I would not normally consider for breakfast other than the coffee and orange juice and the nearest McDonalds was down by the station. I will not stay there again. The cleaning staff were in a hurry to get the rooms done. One day when I returned about 10, the desk staff made me wait a while before escorting me back to my room since the cleaning staff had already "started" on the rooms on my floor. It is also very close to the river, the Science Museum, and a lovely park. It was fine for what I needed on a business trip, including reliable and free internet access.
