Our room was located on the 3rd floor and the staff very kindly helped us carry our luggage up the stairs. Check in was easy and the place is clean. There are quite a few staff working at the hostel, and we happened to bump into most of them when they were having their get-together. They are all very friendly and made us a yummy sashimi dish. Although I was sick and couldn't communicate much, my companion had a really great time talking to them. She had so much fun it became the highlight of our entire trip. No onsite parking available, but there is ample paid parking nearby. Check-in procedures were emailed to me to accommodate late arrival. I was able to make my way directly to my sleeping area with the package left for me and turn in my registration card in the morning at check-out. The rooms are set up as dormitory style with each bed space in its private area behind a curtain. You can hear the other residents in your dorm area, but there are quiet hours for sleeping, which everyone adhered to. Breakfast is self-serve, slices of toast with jam and juice from the fridge. Very basic, but given the hostel style setting it is exactly what I expected.
