Nacka – convenience and stunning nature all in one
Nacka is one of Stockholm's closest suburbs and an enchanting gateway to Stockholm's majestic archipelago. Nacka is one of the most convenient areas to stay in if you prefer to be just outside the very centre of Stockholm but close to the water and sprawling green spaces.
Sickla is traditionally one of Stockholm's industrial hubs but several of the old warehouses have been converted to cultural spaces, such as the cultural centre Dieselverkstaden. The guided tour Sickla Above and Below Ground takes you through the rock shelters in the Atlas Copco mine, right underneath the Sickla Shopping Centre, where you'll find plenty of shopping and entertainment options for the entire family. If you're still looking for more retail therapy, just head to Nacka Forum, where you'll find more than 150 shops and stores.
Don't miss the beautiful scenery at Nacka Strand, the beautiful shore with a view towards Djurgarden and Stockholm's beautiful archipelago. If you're hungry after your seaside walk in this wonderfully quaint part of Nacka, just stroll on down to the restaurants by the wharf.
If you want to turn your weekend up a notch with some fun activities, enjoy a half day of wild adventures at the outdoor adventure centre Aventyrsbanan or try out wall climbing at Klatterverket. If your prefer a quiet jog or walk there are plenty of excellent trails in the Nacka Nature Reserve; Hellasgarden is an ideal starting point for longer trails. The nature reserve offers plenty of options if you enjoy hikes, running, swimming and fishing.
Visit Jarla Lake where locals go for a refreshing swim during the summer months by the communal beach, Sickla Strandbad. It's easy to make your way to Nacka with local buses, but the quick and convenient commuter train Saltsjobanan is the quickest and most convenient option from the central Stockholm.
So book your weekend trip and combine shopping and outdoor activities with having Sweden's vibrating capital right on your doorstep!
