If you like your beach hot and sunny, this is the place to go, with watersport activities as a bonus.

Mullins Beach is one of the northernmost beaches on the west coast of Barbados. That means you’ll find clear blue water and generally calm seas. With its location far from the capital Bridgetown, Mullins can be less busy than other closer beaches.Plan to rent a beach umbrella and lounge chairs since the natural shade is limited. Get there early to assure you have the gear you want and a choice beach spot. Then, jump into the lovely warm waters of the marked swimming location where there are lifeguards on duty. Those with tender feet may want to wear water shoes since there are likely to be bits of coral on the ocean floor. Rent a Jet Ski to plow through waves beyond the swimming area. Or, enjoy other motorized activities: riding on a glass-bottomed boat to observe sea turtles, waterskiing or riding an inflatable banana boat. You may also find a water trampoline or inflated iceberg to enjoy climbing and jumping into the water. The beach has shower and toilet facilities, an acclaimed eatery, and several snack and keepsake vendors. Mullins has had some problems with beach erosion in recent years, but since nature changes conditions constantly it may be back in prime condition for your visit. Before making the drive there, check local beach reports. Barbados addressed the historic issue with limited parking for Mullins Beach now you’ll use the new car park built just across the road. Take a bus from Bridgetown which stops right at the beach. If you take a taxi, be sure to negotiate a return time and fare before heading to the beach. The drive is about 30 minutes.
