"It is an older Buddhist temple and feels wonderful to be in a place with such character and history. The meals (all are vegetarian in accordance with Buddhist tradition) are a delicious delight. This is from one who is not a vegetarian! The service is personal and sincerely caring. I would recommend visiting Daisen and staying there. "

"Nice overnight stay in a traditional old ryokan. Last-minute booking ended us up in an awkwardly tiny room but the Onsen was lovely and good breakfast. Hostess was very helpful finding us a dinner spot. Handy location near the beach."

Don't be misled by the "hostel" designation of this guest house - it is really a boutique, luxury residence in the heart of Daikon Island. "Located very close to the station, making this a convenient stop for travelers moving via train. Hotel is advertised as free on-site parking (which is why I chose it), but the parking area is EXTREMELY limited. I arrived to find it full so had to pay for off-site parking, though there are plenty of options nearby. Front desk hours are also limited, so you do want to make sure you are not arriving too late. Otherwise, very comparable to other business hotels I have stayed at in Japan. Staff was friendly and the room was actually a little larger than average."
