Staff was kind and had a packet waiting for us for late check-in. Plenty of parking. Facility is nice and clean Room was clean and nice. The views from outside our window was stunning I’m giving them a 4/5 instead of a 5 because of a few sticks in the mud : 1) the shared bathroom across from our room. I actually liked the design they have the toilet and shower separate , however the shower room door and lock sticks and I didn’t know that ,and I was stuck in there for a good five minutes trying to get out… the next day when my partner went to shower I forgot to tell him ( I’m horrible I know ) and the same thing happened. Also the shower drain was clogged so you had to slow your shower down to a trickle while you stood in an inch and a half of water No complimentary coffee/tea: I know this is a silly thing to get stuck up on, but coffee is my elixir of life. We got there late and didn’t have time to pick any up, there were not any packets in our room so I went downstairs to look for some, they had a machine in the lobby but you had to pay over three dolllars a cup and it was broken and wouldn’t work. I think some packets of complimentary tea or coffee is a small gesture to guest that goes a long way for them Overall pretty good stay. Cook and everything is beautiful around this area! Staff was great, but the one downside (that didn't effect me) is if you arrive after the staff leave, you will have difficulties getting in if you failed to contact the property before getting there. They are nice enough to leave all the keys where you can still get into your room, but it requires that you know the code to the door, which you would not know if you do not check in with the property before arriving. While the bed was mostly comfortable, it was not quiet until well after when I wanted to sleep and unlike most hostels, people were not very aware/kind of others need for sleep. This is the second Haka House I've stayed in, and none of them provide towels, which makes me very unlikely to ever go back to one - who doesn't need to shower? And what traveler is bringing a towel with them??? Also the rooms were quite hot until well after 2AM, even when it was only 50F outside. I stayed in an 8 bed dorm room and found it to be very comfortable. The lockers were big and beds felt really private. Clean shower rooms and toilets. Kitchen was well equipped. They kindly let me check in early as my bed was ready and a towel was provided upon request. I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm but it felt more like a 4 bed because of the way the room was divided. The beds were very well thought out with little shelves, a reading light, outlets, and a privacy curtain. The lockers were huge. Bathrooms were clean and shampoo, conditioner, and body soap were provided which was a pleasant surprise. I did some laundry and really appreciated the drying room as it was challenge to line dry with the wind. WiFi worked great and I was able to FaceTime with family and show them the incredible views from the hostel. The only option were fans/heaters that did not work properly, or open the windows which resulted in freezing temperatures overnight. We appreciated the on site laundry, lounge areas, and the sauna! Dining options are limited in the park (~3 restaurants). Even though they're all good, you may want to plan ahead and bring groceries to take advantage of the communal kitchen area at the hostel. Helpful and friendly staff keep everything clean and tidy.
