"The room was nice and clean. Good parking just outside the room. The WiFi was a bit weak with our room being further away from the reception. Therefore we couldn’t watch the tv."

"I was a bit wary entering through the game room from the back parking lot, but what a delightful surprise to find a beautiful, roomy, fully updated room! They have clearly put great care into renovating this historic hotel. We enjoyed staying there."

It’s hard to imagine a better run B&B than The Grand on MacFie. The building is full of character and has been lovingly renovated complete with a variety of period furniture and fittings.
Nothing seems to be too much trouble for the two hosts whether it’s carrying a heavy suitcase upstairs, providing local knowledge on places to visit or eat our, proper HP sauce at breakfast from the ‘family heirloom’ bottle!

This property is immaculate in presentation, providing the highest quality of everything. Superb quality bed linen, towels and pillows. A fridge full of lovely treats. Clarins products in the bathroom and even sunscreen! Great patio, with patio heater, to sit out on. We can not recommend this highly enough. The beach is at the bottom of the garden and it is stunning.

This apartment and complex was just so spacious, comfortable and so well equipped.
We had a wonderful view over the estuary and had amazing sunsets every evening.
The service was great , prompt and always with a smile. Cant say enough about this place. Only downside was no wifi in the apartment.

The best area to stay in Moriarty is in the heart of the village itself, particularly along the Bass Highway, to ensure convenience and easy access to local amenities.
This central stretch of the Bass Highway is Moriarty's main artery, offering direct access to the few shops, cafes, and services available. Staying here means you're well-placed for onward travel along the north coast of Tasmania, making it a practical stopover point.
For travellers looking for a convenient overnight stop, especially those on a road trip, staying in Moriarty's central area is ideal.
When is the best time to go to Moriarty?
The best time to visit Moriarty, Tasmania, is generally during the warmer months, from December to February, though the shoulder seasons of spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) also offer pleasant conditions.
For those looking to enjoy the outdoors and explore the region's natural beauty, the summer months (December to February) are ideal. The weather is typically sunny and warm, great for visiting the nearby beaches like Port Sorell, engaging in water activities, or hiking in Narawntapu National Park. This period is also popular for local markets and outdoor events.
Couples or solo travellers who prefer cooler temperatures and fewer crowds might find the shoulder seasons more appealing. Spring brings blooming wildflowers and mild weather, making it excellent for scenic drives and coastal walks.
