York Cove Hotel is in a very picturesque location, across the cove from George Town. It is a self-managed hotel so there is no one on the premise to help you but the manager answered the phone since I didn’t receive any check in information ahead. The pool was not in operation but the room and bathroom is very spacious and clean. The area is beautiful, nice place to relax for a few days.
Spacious room and wonderful views from outside (we were ground floor). Didn’t realise some limits due to off season (didn’t know it was off season) in terms of bar/dining and reception but staff were friendly and did what they could to accommodate us.
No staff were available, and ended up calling police when another potential guest was attempting to break into rooms. No meals were available.
The actual room was lovely, apart from the bedroom blinds not able to be closed, which made sleep interesting ?:!?
The rooms were very spacious and comfortable.
Poor and unprofessional signage and access for people carrying cases, stairs and a maze of doorways twists and turns. Facilities such as pool have not been used pr maintained in many years.
Large well appointed suite, comfortable bed, lounge and dining chairs. Very nice toiletries, towel warmer. Could do with a tea towel. Fan in bathroom wasn’t working but leaving the door open worked.
The noise from other unit's showers disturbed my sleep. It started at 5.51am and there were at least 6 more that we heard. Not sure if it was showers or the fans in bathrooms. Disappointing.
We used the Tradie Entrance via a key safe. The smell as you opened the door just 'slapped' you in the face!! A maze of doors, rooms, stairs and hallways to find our room! Reception not open the entire time we were there, neither was the restaurant. Our room was large but opened to an unfilled pool with a failing cover and weeds and leaves around the surrounds, no wonder the curtains were closed in our room! None of these issues were noted when booking and no discount offered. Beware!
This would have to be the worst experience i have had with a hotel not one was at reception and the phone just went to a answering service with no call dack
No contact from the hotel to tell us how to get a key to our room at all NOTHING

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Whilst the reception staff upon arrival where fantastic, we were advised of several access point closures meaning we had to cart luggage through the deck and dining room then up stairs. Quite difficult with luggage.
Further, to leave we had to go an even longer way out with another flight of stairs as the reception and dining area is locked on Sundays.
Luckily I was able to help my Mum with her luggage and weather was fine but very disappointed at the lack of up keep and access.
WAs disappointed with the reception. The television didn't work. Access was poor to the room . The out look on the pool was disappointing as the pool area was in need of extensive love and attention. The kitchenette was poorly equipped. There was no key drop box and the reception was locked.
The 1 bedroom apartment was spacious and has a pleasant outlook onto the water. The spot was also quiet. The room needed more cleaning. The patio furniture was covered in cobwebs, the carpet was dirty, the furniture was dirty, and the shade sail was in tatters and banging on the window. In addition the heat lamp in the bathroom plus lighting was flickering on and off and we stopped using it as it appeared unsafe. Overall the propety was badly in need of maintenance and cleaning and didn't look like it had been given any attention prior to our arrival. Given we paid over $250 per night, I expected more for this price. The person on reception displayed a bit of an attitude at times, which was un necessary and unhelpful. Whilst it was a nice spot, we won't stay there again and the owners really need to spend some money on the place doing some urgent maintenance and counselling their staff on what constitutes customer service.
