We were suppose to have governor’s suite but it was double booked. The manager ended up giving us 3 rooms that connected so it still felt like we were in a suite.

Set expectations for the best experience

Pros: All of the staff we encountered were excellent. The gym is awesome. Everything was clean. Cons: The room was likely last updated in 1970. WiFi is weak. Overall, this was great for what my family needed - a place to stay warm and sleep. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the condo was very clean. However, set expectations! The pictures on the listing are not accurate at least to where we ended up staying. Very likely the unit we stayed in had not been updated since it was built. The furniture was decent though if a bit threadbare. The bathroom fixtures worked marginally well and the water was hot. All in all a good stay for what we needed.

Beautiful and secluded

The property was beautiful. The Vrbo room type was not communicated to the hotel and so when we arrived they gave us the wrong room type. Hotel was wonderful in accommodating our needs. The condo we were put in was outdated but very clean. The check out instructions we received were wrong, but again the hotel was very accommodating with us.

Double Booked

They double booked this room which they call the Governors suite. We ended up being placed in 3 separate rooms. We were hoping to all be together and have the lake views, but we were stuck with a bunch of smaller beds and 0 view. This put a huge wrench in our trip and we were forced to accept the mismatch resolution or we would’ve had nowhere to stay. The rest of the property and bar was wonderful.

Overall Experience

Location was close to WVU but certainly not what we expected. The pictures on the website must have been taken when the place was first built. Elevator didn't work, pool was very foggy, and rooms had an odor.

Needs updates but clean

My only major complaint about the property is that the elevator was broken, and there was no apparent effort to get it fixed. My uncle, who has physical limitations, had to walk up and down 3 flights of stairs to get to our room, which was very taxing for him. The personnel were polite, but no alternate accommodations were offered when I asked, even though it was clear that many rooms were vacant. The hotel is clearly old but kept clean.

We booked our 2 bedroom, 2 bath suite months in advance. When we checked in we were told no suites were open for stays. Instead we were put in a standard hotel room. It was decent, though a little outdated. But it was not what we paid for. After a little back and forth, the manager offered us a second room "comped ". Which we actually didn't need since half our party couldn't make the trip at the last minute. However, we had already paid in full for the price of the suite, so we then requested a partial refund to cover the difference in rates. Hosteeva (3rd party through VRBO) was extremely responsive to my inquiries for assistance, though having just 1 assigned customer service agent would have been nice. The resort however was very aloof and by the time we left we still hadn't resolved it. I called the resort 3 times leaving a message for the manager and he never called me back. Not once. We did finally get a refund from Hosteeva, but given the difficulties we experienced in general we will not likely utilize the VRBO eservation site again.
