"The Islander Hotel & Resort was very clean, but unfortunately we experienced several issues during our 3-day stay, which was our first time visiting. One of the biggest concerns was the front desk staff member, Marty, who was consistently rude and disrespectful during multiple interactions. In a customer-facing role, better communication skills and a more welcoming attitude are expected. At check-in, we were informed *after paying* that there would be no housekeeping services during our stay due to staffing shortages. This should have been disclosed ahead of time, as we likely would have chosen a different hotel. Being on vacation, we shouldn’t have to clean our own room, which ended up being the case. This was very disappointing. We also had an issue regarding the pool. One evening, we called the front desk about the lack of pool lights. The employee who answered (she did not give her name) told us there were no pool lights and that the pool was closed. We later found out both statements were untrue—the pool does have lighting and remains open until 10 PM. Because of this misinformation, our family missed out on enjoying the pool for two nights. Additionally, we were told we had to go to the front desk to pick up extra towels and trash bags ourselves due to staffing shortages, which was inconvenient. Overall, while the property itself was clean, the lack of transparency, poor service, and inconvenience significantly impacted our experience. Given these issues, we do not"

"Staff was very helpful and nice. Quiet area. Seemed like an older place but they did a good job updating it. Enjoyed my stay"

"The lady at the front desk was very nice. The breakfast was what you would expect for the price. This is just a place to rest your head at night, nothing fancy but close to the beach and most restaurants and shopping areas."

"No chairs on balcony. No spare trash can liners. Restaurant was not well staffed. One waitress who started she was doing three jobs causing delays in getting our food. All carts were stored on first floor entrance and none at handicap rear entrance. No freezer to keep ice packs necessary for meds. No diet sodas in vending machines. Toilet seat would not stay up kept falling down. Air conditioner stopped working but repaired in a timely manner b staff. No information provided at check in about services available or on site or in ares such as dining or entertainment. A little disappointing. Would revisit . Location was great. Easy access to pier and surrounding beaches."

"Our room happened to face the flag pole with two flags that made sleep quite difficult for my friend whose bed was closer to the porch. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay and we plan to return (and ask for another room). -Mary Kopac"

"If you like full-sized, NOT QUEEN beds, that are sagging and old and the springs make noise with every movement, this is the hotel for you. This is the only Hampton in memory with beds that remind me of bad hotels from the 80's. The beds were so bad we forfeited our 2nd night and cancelled the 3rd (thank goodness the hotel staff were able to refund us the 3rd night). This hotel is managed by a management company and they are clearly not doing maintenance. The hotel carpet is old and stained and wrinkling and the exterior needs a power wash. Hard to believe that a hotel on such a nice water view property has not been taken care of. We tried staying at all Hilton properties in order to have nice beds and amenities, but Hilton failed with several of their properties. NO MORE, going back to hotels.com and booking the best hotel in the area, not relying on Hilton, this management company is ruining the Hilton brand. When I explained how bad the beds were the staff were totally in agreement and understood that management has been very lax and are completely aware of the shortcomings."
