Thank you to Sebastian and his team for making my stay really welcome. I really enjoyed my time in Montevideo and enjoyed my stay at the Oxford Hotel, it was very central and close to all the places I wanted to visit. The Breakfast was good and all staff were really friendly and helpful. thank you!

In Montevideo for 2 short nights and hotel was perfectly adequate for short stay. In Los Pocitos area, some good restaurants and bars in the area, lovely beach, very quiet and pretty cold tho in May! Hotel is older and bit more dated on inside than it appears on outside. Room was more apartment orientated than a usual hotel with a small kitchenette, table and some chairs. Room had floor to ceiling patio doors leading to large balcony above front of hotel, no chairs or table on balcony tho but...

I really enjoyed staying in this hotel. The Ciudad Vieja is a lovely area of Montevideo, with great architecture, cafes, restaurants, museums and easy access to the ferry to Buenos Aires. It’s also situated on the rambla so was very handy for going along beside the river. The room was lovely. I had a river view, comfortable bed and amenities. And a kettle! Much appreciated for a cup of tea. I used room service a couple of times for dinner and the food and service were great. All the staff I...

The location couldn't be any better if you main intention to be in Montevideo is to explore its Old City's highlights. Take note that the rooms and building are rather old, so, do not expect a 5-star modern hotel. For us, the location, service and cleanliness are the main priorities. In all these, Alvear Hotel do not disappoint. Shoutout to the friendly, polite and helpful staff, especially Roberto & Oscar at Front Desk!!
