The location is ideal for getting to the Chianti region in just a few minutes and enjoying the comfort and cultural interests of the city of Siena (6 km away). A large garden with oaks, cypresses, lime trees, and terraces with Mediterranean plants that enrich the beauty and offer a stay in the open air. Swimming pool of 6x12m with terrace and pergola extends over two hectares of land cultivated with olive trees and fruit trees. Opposite, the view of the woods and fields. It's small enough to perhaps be called "cute" but you won't catch me using this term. Monteriggioni began as a border fortress built on a round hill by Sienna against the Florentines. It is famous for the intact defensive structure that held up against repeated Florentine attacks in the 11th century; its 10 meter high walls and 14 towers can still be seen for miles around. Monteriggioni has been featured in movies as a typical medieval village. The village is slightly elliptical in shape with two gates (a third has been plugged). The major gate tourists will use when coming from the parking lot, Porta Franca, owes its name to the Via Francigena--Monteriggione was a major stop on the pilgrimage trail from Cantebury to Rome. We are seven friends who enjoy traveling together, and the location a few kilometers north of Siena, as well as the amenities themselves, were perfect for us. We enjoyed the use of three separate living areas, five bedrooms, and four baths, all clean, up to date, and well-maintained. The property is large enough to accommodate some of the owner's family members as well, but they were rarely seen. We also enjoyed the owner and manager, Giada and her mother, who were very much present and available to our every need. They were easily reachable by email and prompt in responding to our questions, as well as being genuinely nice people. During our stay the property was experiencing a bit of trouble with its Internet connection (a replacement for the modem needed to be purchased), and each time we asked, Giada responded immediately and was able to resolve the issue quickly until the new part could be purchased. We would definitely recommend this property to those seeking an excellent location in Tuscany. The property sits directly on the road to Bosciano next to the International School and has a short unpaved drive and ample parking. Muricce is a perfect location from which to take day trips to Siena (we recommend parking in the supermarket lot across from the train station, then taking a cab to the old part of Siena). It is also close to Montereggioni, a small and lovely hill town which is still apparently undiscovered by American tourists. In addition, we took day trips to Volterra, Montepulciano, Castellari in Castellina, and of course Florence. Two things of note: the restaurant in Quercegrossa (a small town nearby) is not to be missed. We were surprised by the truly excellent meal we had there; the other is the excellent cook available at Muricce. It would be hard to choose our favorite meal, and the price was a bargain, since quantities are ample enough for leftovers the next day. Each time we were given a choice of three menus. As an example, one meal we chose consisted of grilled red and yellow pepper strips with garlic, capers and parsley; Tuscan bread topped with cheese and walnuts; pasta with black cabbage and beans; roast beef with Tuscan herbs; green salad; chocolate cake with pears. The cook, Piera, is very proud of her work, and she should be. Every meal she cooked us (all from local organic sources) was exquisite. We have agreed - we would all return to Muricce given the opportunity. ##### Robin L. "Avec nos trois familles, nous avons passé un séjour fort agréable dans votre maison au charme typiquement toscan, dans une région magnifique. L''ensemble de la propriété, bien structurée en trois appartements, est un lieu idéal pour un groupe, avec une cuisine spacieuse et bien équipée dans une grange restaurée. A l’extérieur, la terrasse jouit d’une très belle vue sur le jardin-parc. Cette grange est toute sur un plan. Nous avons passé de longues heures près de la piscine spacieuse, propre et permettant de nager. La piscine dispose de chaises-longues, d’une douche et d’une table de jardin ombragée par une pergola de paille. La maison a une excellente position de départ pour visiter Siena, San Gimignano, Volterra, Florence, Montalcino, Pienza et le Chianti. L’accueil chaleureux et la professionnalité des propriétaires sont certes un argument fort pour choisir cette maison.
