Mongoose Villa Complex
The Resort The Resort
The Mongoose Villa Complex is one of several villas at the “Forest Dream Resort,” which is shared by various owners.
You’ll find four species of monkeys living freely here at our resort. Bushbabies, green monkeys, colobus monkeys, and baboons, which are called “baboons” here in Kenya.
However, we ask that you please do not feed the monkeys!
They have their natural habitat here and eat whatever nature provides for them. If we humans start feeding them like we do cats, it has a very negative effect on the animals’ behaviour. Please also do not leave any food outside unattended; otherwise, the monkeys will come and see it as their prey and become aggressive if you try to take it away from them.
Since bushbabies are both shy and nocturnal, you’ll rarely catch a glimpse of them.
The entire resort covers an area of approximately 4 hectares and is connected to the Kenyan power grid. It also has its own 12-meter-deep cistern, which supplies water to the entire property. The access roads are well-maintained, and the path to the resort is lit at night. The fenced-in property and access through the locked entrance gate—which is manned 24/7 by our own security staff—ensure your safety. This means you can move about freely anywhere in the resort and use it, for example, for short walks. However, we recommend wearing closed-toe shoes in the evening, as you may not be able to see small creatures on the ground at dusk or at night.
