However, the cleaning staff had neglected to check the balcony and apparently, the previous renters had left an impressive amount of trash there (and not a little trash, mind you, but multiple bags of trash, each broken, overflowing, and covering the entire balcony floor). Although things like this sometimes happen, the sight was disturbing enough that I decided to check out early. Although everyone I spoke to on the phone was polite and professional, at the end of the day, you are dealing with a property management company. They were unwilling to compensate me for the remaining days that I did not use. So, 2 stars for maintenance, 1 star for flexibility. At least, VRBO customer service was much easier to communicate with compared to the property management company, so they get an extra star.
