Casa Dorotea is approximately 180 metres squared and can sleep up to 7 people in 3 bedrooms. It features a private garden, a private terrace, a private patio, air conditioning and winter heating and Wi-Fi Internet access. The cost of the electricity is included in the price. Casa Dorotea is located on the first floor and is one of three apartments in the block. It is accessible from the garden via an external staircase with approximately 20 steps. There is air conditioning in all three bedrooms and also throughout the house – the lounge and dining area. The lounge is paved with characteristic terracotta tiles. The modern furnishings are stylish and comfortable. There are two large sofas and a satellite television and air conditioning. An extra bed can be added in the lounge (on request and extra charges may apply). The room has two windows with a view of the garden and the terrace. The dining room is accessible from the lounge room and has a dining table, which can accommodate 6 guests, and air conditioning. Leading off the dining room is the recently refurbished kitchen. It is well equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with a freezer, a dishwasher and an Italian-style coffee maker and air conditioning. The kitchen has a window with a view of the garden. Next to the kitchen, there is a small, partially covered terrace where there is a washing machine. You can access the beautiful ensuite bedroom from the living room. The bedroom has a double bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The room has a window with a view of the private patio below the villa and a private garden with homegrown vegetables. The bedroom is equipped with a TV and air conditioning/heating. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a flat-screen TV, a toilet and a bathtub with shower and a Jacuzzi. You can even watch the television whilst you enjoy a hydro-massage! You can access the second bedroom from the corridor. It has twin beds (80 cm/32 inches) and a view of the garden. The bedroom is equipped with a flat-screen TV and air conditioning/heating. The bathroom has a washbasin, a toilet, a fully enclosed shower and a hairdryer. It is accessible from the corridor. There is a French window which gives access to the terrace, facing the garden. The terrace is 40 metres squared and is accessible from the lounge through sliding French doors. It is equipped with a table, chairs, sun loungers and a BBQ. From the terrace, you will have a view of the garden below and of the other buildings in the surrounding area but you will have your own privacy. Here you can relax with a drink and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. There is a third bathroom with a wash basin and a toilet. At the end of the corridor, there is a third bedroom, which also has a view of the garden. This is a double room but the beds can be separate to make it a twin. The bedroom is equipped with a flat-screen TV and air conditioning/heating. The private garden is 400 metres squared and is partly shaded by tall palm and lemon trees. It has sun loungers where you can relax and enjoy the sunshine. Next to the garden is the private patio which is furnished with tables and chairs and covered to provide shade. While staying at Casa Dorotea, you will be in the seventeenth-century historic centre of Meta di Sorrento. The closest restaurant and a grocery store are a few minutes' walk away. Casa Dorotea is approximately 5 minutes' walk from the train station where, in two stops, you will be in Sorrento. From this station, you can also easily visit Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples. From Sorrento's train station, it is approximately 15 minutes' walk to Marina Piccola (port) where you can get the ferry to Capri. From Sorrento's train station you can also get buses to Positano and Amalfi Coast. The closest beach is roughly 800 metres (half a mile) from Casa Dorotea. It was a wonderful property and Lorenza was a fabulous host. We arrived late evening and she met us and helped us get settled. She and her family have lived at Casa Dorotea for generations and the property was very well cared for. She gave us restaurant recommendations and tips on how to get to Sorrento which was 4 miles away (like taking the train vs. the bus). We absolutely loved the patio and would spend our nights sitting outside taking in the views and talking about our day and planning our next. In the morning, we would wake up to the birds singing sweet songs to us, and we enjoyed the smell of the flowers and lemons as we would sip our coffee on the patio. Overall, one of the most fabulous places we've ever stayed at and hope to be able to vacation there again!! We thought we had done our VRBO homework.. listing pictures and previous customer reviews. On a positive note the property location and AC are great. However there were several challenges. The internet support was non existent, marginal at best despite the owners attempt to improve service. At check in we were instructed by the owner not to use the kitchen range due to gas odor if turned on. We were further instructed to only cook food in the microwave which was outdated and certainly needs to be replaced. Very disappointing. The master bedroom was rendered unusable throughout our stay due to ants in the bed despite several attempts to fix the problem. Fortunately there were other bedrooms to access. The ant issue was not only confined to the master suite, it was throughout the home. There are no sunshades on the SW side of the property which rendered the dining room and patio unusable for several hours into the evening. We enjoyed our home cooked Italian dinner sitting in the family room. Our overall assessment of this property: Great location, Very Tired. ##### Maureen G. Even better than the pictures. Large beds, lovely decor, and vast veranda looking over the sea. Great location for bus and train travel. We were able to walk and take public transportation everywhere (including Sorrento, Positano, Naples, and Pompeii). Some great restaurants in Meta too! The coffered ceilings and orange groves are enchanting. We had a little trouble finding the parking, Meta does not have great cell coverage. One issue was ants...they were all over our bed and bathroom...made a very uncomfortable night's sleep. We purchased ant killer spray, but it didn't do the trick. Lorenza and her mother are wonderfully accommodating. They responded very positively by bringing us a space heater as the weather was unseasonably cool for a few days. The house is large and provided plenty of space for our family of 7\. The train station is about a 5 minute walk and then it’s a short 7 minute ride into Sorrento. We found the neighborhood quite charming and very typical for Italy. The beach is an easy 20 minute walk. There is a grocery store nearby but its open hours weren’t always convenient. We would definitely recommend Casa Dorotea for anyone planning to explore Sorrento, Pompei, or anywhere in the Campania region. ##### Rodger J. Property is great - exactly as described although read carefully - it does have air con but this is just in the bedrooms. The outside terrace is wonderful but the dining room is very exposed to the sun and gets very hot. Fans were needed in the rest of the property. Meta is quiet. There are some restaurants and small shops around but limited number. Some travel widens the choice. Piano is walkable and Sorrento is easily reached by train, the last back is 10pm. The station is conveniently close to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius, and Sorrento, and fares are very cheap. Boats go from Sorrento round the coast or there are buses but roads are windy. Overall would recommend staying here as long as you are happy using the train a fair bit. ##### Nick P. This soured out last day. We were told it was a deposit but there was never any intention of giving any back. It was clean, beautifully decorated, the scenery is unbelievable and the access to everything was unlike any other rental property we have stayed at. Checkin was seamless and we met Dora at the entrance to the street. She gave us a tour and was gracious and understanding. We had 4 adults and 2 ,10 year olds and she was more than welcoming. The property itself is stunning, you walk in to the smell of jasmine in the large courtyard with seating. Then you climb the stairs and enter a beautiful home with views that will take your breath away. The train is up the block and you can get to sorrento in 3 short stops(train schedule is not reliable but will always arrive, bus seemed more accurate). The beach and restaurants are within walking distance and Piano di Sorrento is walking distance as well. There is coffee shop that is close to home and opens early. We even left a piece of luggage and they are sending back to the states for us. The A/C worked perfectly huge bonus!!! Alfonso was responsive and helpful during the booking process, and the owner and her daughter were very accommodating during our stay. Daughter was particularly helpful, responding to our frequent texts for advice on where to go and what to do. The unit was very well outfitted, and comfortable - very roomy, and beautiful balcony with table and comfortable chairs to watch the gorgeous Sunsets. Stove/Oven are a bit finicky, but manageable, and dishwasher doesn’t quite work the way it should, but all minor difficulties in the grand scheme of things. Parking is around the corner from the unit, but an easy walk. Town of Meta (where unit is located) is quaint and pretty quiet - Train is also an easy walk from the villa, and the perfect way to get to Sorrento, a quick 6 minute ride (by car takes at least 15 minutes, and could be as much as 30 depending on traffic). One note that may not be obvious from listing: electricity is extra - not aggressions, but we didn’t really use anything other than the lights, and recharging our phones, with occasional toasting, and ran the dishwasher twice, but it cost us $60 for electricity for 5 days. ##### todd g.
