Unique and luxurious location! Staying in "The Tower House". A former 17th century monumental warehouse, in the middle of the historic, old center of Medemblik, near the old harbor. The entire house (130 m2, 4 floors) is entirely at your disposal. 100% privacy! 2x Master bedrooms, bath, freestanding shower, free WIFI internet, cable TV and a well-equipped kitchen. 100% comfort. Within walking distance: The ports, canal, IJsselmeer, (water) sports, monuments, restaurants, walking and shopping area, nature and culture. Amsterdam is easily accessible by car within 35 minutes. The kitchen diner The kitchen is equipped with many "extras"; oven, microwave, dishwasher, wok burner, professional coffee / espresso machine with fresh beans (an absolute must have :-)), fridge, freezer, etc in addition to all 'normal' kitchen utensils. You can prepare and serve a multi-course dinner for the whole family in the kitchen without any problems. The living room The living room radiates the atmosphere of the 17th century (characteristic stairwell, chandeliers and high beamed ceiling), but with the 20th century comfort (HD cable TV, WIFI, a gas fireplace, of course the entire building has central heating). Here is a comfortable seating area (good couch and 2 easy chairs). The original shared (split) front door gives access to your private sidewalk on the street side overlooking the harbor. The sidewalk is also your terrace. The 2 bedrooms Both bedrooms are both equipped as "master bedrooms", have double beds and enough hanging and laying space for your clothes. If desired, you can slide the beds (box spring mattresses) apart in one of the bedrooms. The 2 Toilets and Bathroom The bathroom has a spacious bathtub and also a freestanding shower. The toilet is located separately next to the bathroom. Of course there is also a 2nd toilet on the first floor. The storage room Finally, you also have access to an indoor storage room where you can store your bike, board, kite or other items safely and warmly. The entire house is at your disposal, there are no other guests, absolute privacy! We do not live in the city ourselves, but in a small village nearby. We would like to know what time you expect to arrive, so that we can personally hand over the key to you at the house. Are you strongly leaving or arriving in the middle of the night? No problem!! You will then receive the code from the key box, so that you can always enter the house. The neighbourhood The Torenhuis is located in the middle of the historic center of Medemblik, and yet in absolute tranquility. The (Wester) harbor literally around the corner, the best bakery in the area around the other corner and a view of the only open canal in Medemblik. Enough shopping options, hiking options, good and tasty restaurants, catering, water sports !!, historic buildings etc. In the house you will find information about the area "our 33 hotspots of North Holland according to Julia & Marius". Medemblik is the oldest city in West Friesland. With the Regatta Center, the city has a water sport center with international allure where national and international sailing competitions are organized. Historical and modern In the center you will find modern and historic brotherly side by side. Beautiful yachts and historic ships from the brown fleet moor in the modern harbors of the historic city center. Sitting on one of the terraces you can watch a drink from behind the bustle of the water. Museums and castle The city has many museums; Castle Radboud, dating from the end of the 13th century, stands in a prominent place. The most delicious delicacies are baked in the traditional way at the Bakery Museum and at the Steam Room you can learn everything about the development of the steam engine. Medemblik is also the stopping place for the Hoorn-Medemblik steam tram. The peace seeker gets on a bike with the VVV cycle route in hand and makes a trip over dikes, through old ribbon villages and past bell-farm farms. From the back of the dike you look out over the endless IJsselmeer. Amsterdam Amsterdam can be reached within 35 minutes by car. Public transport (train, bus, boat) via Hoorn (approx. 10 minutes). Other interesting cities such as Volendam, Marken and interesting "Cheese cities" Edam and Alkmaar at a shorter distance. Enkhuizen and Hoorn even within 10 minutes away. Transport Free parking at home on the public road. Public transportation by bus. NS train station Hoorn within 15 minutes. Amsterdam 35 minutes away. Other things to look out for The tower house is an incredibly nice house. You feel the character of the house. It is a monumental renovated warehouse. It is a prime location and has a luxurious entourage. Unfortunately it is less suitable for the disabled or small children given the multiple floors and stairs without safety stair gates. Medemblik und die Umgebung bieten alles für einen erholsamen und abwechslungsreichen Aufenthalt. Wir sind sehr freundlich von Marius empfangen worden, der uns das gesamte Objekt erst mal gezeigt hat. Die liebevolle Und das historische Ambiente aufnehmende Inneneinrichtung haben uns sofort gefallen. Die Räume waren für vier Personen sehr gut geeignet. Die Küche war sehr gut ausgestattet, wenn auch der Wok nicht da war und die Kaffeemaschine ein Kapselfresser ist. Na ja man kann nicht alles haben. Der zunächst etwas muffige Geruch ist mit Sicherheit dem alten Gemäuer zuzuschreiben und stört nicht weiter. Wir würden wieder dort Urlaub machen. Die steilen Treppen sind gut beherrschbar, jedoch für Menschen mit Gehbehinderung nicht zu empfehlen. ##### Marcus S. Die Gastgeber waren sehr nett und zuvorkommend. Das Haus liegt malerisch in der Altstadt zwischen einem Teil des Medembliker Hafens und einer kleinen Gracht. Es ist liebevoll und mit Stil möbliert.Von Medemblik aus lässt sich Noord-Holland sehr gut erkunden und auch die Sandstrände der Nordsee sind nicht weit entfernt. Amsterdam lässt sich sehr gut mit Bus und Bahn erreichen (das war ein Tipp unseres Gastgebers und es hat sehr gut geklappt). ##### Jan H. Die Bäder ohne Fenster aber mit Badewanne. Die Kinder fanden das toll. Bettwäsche und Handtücher waren vor Ort. Abstellfläche für 2 Fahrräder vorhanden. Für mehr eher schwierig. Treppen sehr schmal. Wir haben für Transport in eine andere Etage eine Menschenkette gebildet. Wir fanden es lustig. Der Vermieter war sehr hilfsbereit und so hat alles mit dem Zugang geklappt. Der Standort ist wirklich perfekt, so das wir unser Auto fast nie benutzen mussten. Das war dann allerdings auch ein Fehler, denn direkt am Haus am "westhavn" sollte man nicht länger parken. Sonst wird das Auto mit Mövenkot überzogen! Das war tötlich für den Lack.Es gibt natür in 100m bessere Möglichkeiten zu parken, aber das wussten wir bei Ankunft nicht. Denn Parken ist in Medemblik bis auf die Parkscheibenzone der Einkaufsstraße "niewstraat" kostenlos. Das Haus war perfekt ausgestattet, so das wir uns direkt wohl fühlten. Bis auf ein undichtes Fenster im 3\. Stock im 2\. Schlafzimmer, was den nächtlichen Lärm der Teenager mit Ihren Fahrzeugen durchlies, "achteroom" ist ein Treffpunkt der Jugend, war alles prima. Wir kommen wieder. Noch ein Tip der Sparmarkt um die Ecke ist sehr teuer. Es gibt einen ALDI in 900m Entfernung. ##### Rudolf M. Stayed 4 nights in Dec 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### Andreas F. 21 Aug 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Wunderschönes historisches Haus Wir haben unseren 14-tägigen Aufenthalt im Torenhuis sehr genossen, unsere Teenage-Tochter war von "ihrem" Reich unter dem Dach sehr angetan, und wir haben uns schnell daran gewöhnt, wegen der engen, steilen Treppen die einzelnen Etagen vorausschauend zu nutzen. Das Haus ist äußerst geschmackvoll und zugleich praktisch eingerichtet. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet (vielleicht könnte es ein paar mehr kleine flache Teller und Suppenlöffel geben). Die Lage im Ort ist optimal, weil die Einkaufsstraße mit Bäcker, Supermarkt etc. gleich um die Ecke liegt. \[Das Dampfmaschinenmuseum am anderen Ende von Medemblik lohnt auf jeden Fall einen Besuch.\] Auch für Ausflüge in die Umgebung ist Medemblik ein guter Ausgangspunkt. Das einzige Manko für uns war, dass das Ferienhaus (entgegen unserer Erwartungen) nicht über einen eigenen Parkplatz verfügt. Zwar haben wir oft einen Parkplatz in der Straße nebenan am Hafen gefunden, ein paar mal mussten wir aber den Parkplatz neben dem Bahnhof am Ende der Einkaufsstraße nutzen. Insgesamt fällt unser Fazit positiv aus. Wir haben uns im Torenhuis sehr wohlgefühlt. ##### Andreas F. Es war ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt, der Vermieter hat uns persönlich empfangen und das Haus gezeigt. Er war super freundlich und ist jederzeit ansprechbar gewesen. Das Haus entspricht den Fotos absolut. Wichtig ist es zu wissen, dass die Treppen recht steil sind, das hat uns (67,61,28 und 25 Jahre alt) aber weder beeinträchtigt, noch gestört. Liebevoll eingerichtet und mit vielen kleinen Dingen, mit denen man sich willkommen und sofort wie zuhause fühlt. Die Kücheneinrichtung ist perfekt. Lovely period property over three floors very tastefully renovated with fine decor. Great location centre of the town. Excellent coffee machine which was enjoyed by all.
