Speak Spanish or have a translator (google translator will suffice), the management and most of the help only speak spanish. Need a land-line? Turn left out the door, go half a block for a good price. Church? Turn right, go a block for 7, 8, 9 o'clock daily Mass. Located in an older and more beautiful part of town. Not near the airport, but the hotel may provide an airport pickup. Plenty of available restaurants and transportation. See (and climb?) the 'Rock'. Shop in the huge open market in the city (Huelco - the 'hole'). Taxi's are inexpensive, the elevator train to the center of Medellin is within walking distance. Spring all-year-round. No elevator if you need one. Air conditioned with cable TV.
