- The space -
Charcoal Haven is the kind of cabin that makes you want to cancel your plans and stay an extra night.
The moment you step inside, the space opens up - cathedral ceilings, wide plank hardwood floors, and floor to ceiling gable windows that frame the sky and trees like a living painting. The oversized sectional faces all of it. The live edge coffee table grounds it. The spiral staircase pulls your eye up to the loft above, where the second king bedroom sits private and quiet above the main living space.
It's a cabin that's genuinely comfortable for four without ever feeling crowded. Full spa like bathroom. Two king bedrooms. A wraparound deck with a hot tub that you'll be in by 9pm regardless of your original plans.

The retreats of Hocking Hills, was everything it was advertised to be. Beautiful house with high-end furnishings. I would highly recommend to all friends and family. We will definitely be returning.

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Listing accuracy
First & foremost, the house is well-designed & nicely decorated. We appreciated that there was an app specifically for the property & that the owners had even created a music playlist. The kitchen was well stocked, the hot tub was very nice, & the firepit area was enjoyable. However, I cannot in good conscience leave a 5-star review, due to the complete inaccuracy of the listing photos of the outdoor space. I believe those photos may have been taken when the property was built, as the current state of the areas shown are now quite overgrown. Despite being a pet friendly listing, there wasn't sufficient space for our dog to be walked to go potty on the property. Only a small, rocky, very uneven path (approx 2 feet wide) was mowed to the side of the house. When we complained to the owners, they were nice enough, but seemed to only want to prove us wrong. They sent their lawn company out, not to mow a wider path, but to take pictures to "show" us where the dog was supposed to go & directed us to a larger path in front of a different property (100 yards away and not lit). My husband is disabled & our dog suffers from hip dysplasia. We rented this property because the listing picture showed a cleared/mowed area at the back of the house that we assumed was useable for our dog. That area now has 3 feet of weeds/growth. I understand the owners think they have provided a pet friendly space, but I would advise against renting if you have a dog.
