Room with character clean 4-poster bed. Lovely terrace with incredible views. Inside the walls and near the castle and restaurants (bookings very advisable).

A blissful location in a fortress village perched on the edge of a steep cliff face, giving an excellent view for many miles. The accommodation is good and the host is very knowledgeable of the history and things to do and see in Marvao.

Cute inn located in Marvao, an ancient fortified village perched atop a hill. Inviting public areas include a common lounge area with complementary port wine and a veranda with a beautiful view of the valley to the west (great for sunsets). Helpful and friendly host. Breakfast is included; you choose from a list of options the night before. Very convenient parking adjacent to the hotel, (once you enter the city gate, it's relatively easy to reach the hotel by car if you just follow the inside of the city wall). Good a/c. Free WiFi, though the signal inside the room was sometimes weak. Nice-sized bathroom, though towels were a little rough. There were several pillows, but I found them either too hard or too soft for my neck. I feel that the room could also benefit from additional lighting.

A real treat

It’s a well run guest house in the center of Marvao. A real treat where you could not ask for more. The owners, who live not far , provide for all your needs. Make sure you ask for the tomato jam

Vamos voltar!!! Charming accommodation with beautiful views. Excellent location within the walled town and quite close to the castle. There are several quality restaurants within a 5 minute walk offering delicious regional dishes. Breakfast is plentiful, meeting anyone's palate and wishes. Marvelous hosts going out of their way in attention and kindness to provide a comfortable stay and to make you feel at home. We will be back!!!
View from the square in front of Casa da Árvore.
View of the castle as one walks along the wall.
Marvão Castle, preceded by a lovely garden with rosemary and hydrangeas.
View from the garden, looking back at the church and museum with an interesting collection of artifacts from as early as the stone age to present-day embroidery with chestnut peel. Most original!

Recomendable.

Clifftop house with character

The Casa owners live nearby but meet you at the place, supply all necessary info on the house and village, and provide free breakfast next morning. There is ample free parking right beside the house. The house is on the edge of the cliff top village with amazing views from the terrace off the lounge. Very friendly and helpful. Great place.

Enestående udsigt over dalen.
